I'm a 29-year-young German, now living in Scotland for 6 years (with a two-year-break in Australia 1996-1998). I did eventually settle down here, since I absolutely love the country and the people here in Scotland. (Some of the Aussie weather wouldn't ...

AutoEurope are definitely the best of the best. I went to mainland Europe for a two week holiday last year to visit my family again and since I took a lot of presents along (and also intended to bring a sack full of things back over) I decided to go by car, rather than fly. I rang around and checked the official web sites of about a dozen big car rental companies (incl. Sixt, Budget, Alamo, Europe Car etc.) and the best quote I could find for a 14-day-all-inclusive-rental to the mainland for a Mondeo-size car was from Europe Car at around £450.
Then I stumbled over AutoEurope's web site and requested a quote - and was flabbergasted. I was quoted an all-inclusive-rate of £320 - an amazing £130 cheaper than the best offer I got so far. Ironically, as I found out when I picked up the car, it was Europe Car who fulfilled the rental. Basically I got the exact same rental which Europe Car quoted me £450 for through AutoEurope as an agent for £130 less. And all-inclusive with AutoEurope does mean all-inclusive: unlimited mileage, VAT, CDW, green card, etc - all included. The only thing I had to pay extra, was the petrol during my journey.
The whole booking was done solely over the internet. I paid the deposit by credit card and received a confirmation e-mail, which I printed out and took to the airport when I collected the car, and there I also paid the remainder. If anyone should have any queries, they do provide a contact phone number in the confirmation e-mail (and also on their web site).
I was so satisfied that I booked another hire car with AutoEurope for another mainland holiday later on in the year. This time I booked a Mondeo-size car from pick-up point Amsterdam, for a cross country journey to Germany and return to Amsterdam. For this 9-day rental I pay £220 all-inclusive. So far I couldn't find another offer from a different company, which even comes close.

Helpful review. Some more information about who they use as agents (they are a broker, not an agent, I think) and the additional costs you incur - additional drivers, CDW excess waiver, etc. - would have been helpful. I've just booked a short break in Ireland and found them very cheap, although they do seem to have some problems with sending the voucher via e-mail - they've told me twice that it will be sent within 3 minutes, but I still don't have it!
Good review, and bloody cheap company.
