My own car broke down on 26th Dec 2005 and I needed another car quickly to do the family visitation bit. I found this company in Yellow Pages and they were the only ones that could offer me a car on 27th Dec with home delivery as everywhere else was shut or had their vehicles booked out. The price seemed reasonable, considering the time of year: they quoted me 126 for a week for a Corsa. The car was delivered by a couple of Eastern Europeans with only basic english. The car was a Y reg and was covered in dents and scratches with the tonneau cover missing. I was not impressed, but I had no real choice. The delivery guy was keen to get away with minimal paperwork and was not too interested in filling out the damage record. He also took 3 imprints of my debit card with signatures. Ostensibly, one for the hire charge, one for a £500 deposit and one for 'additional charges' such as fuel etc. I wasn't happy, but i had to do it. The car was a bit of a wreck but it got us around. After 4 days and 500 miles I got my own car fixed and I decided to leave the Corsa to rot in the car park. I didn't want the risk of losing my deposit for it. On collection I had to wait at at a local train station in my own car, take the driver (another Eastern European with poor english) to where I'd left the Corsa. He didn't really bother to check the car out, gave me back the unused card slips, got in and drove off. When I checked my bank statement I found that they had charged me £136.50 rather than the £126 quoted but I didn't chase it up because I didn't want any more to do with them.
My reason for bothering to write this review is that in checking my recent bank statement (Nov 06) they have mistakenly (or fraudulently?) just taken another unauthorised payment of £165 from my account using the original card details.
Now I've got the hassle of tracking them down (they are not in this year's Yellow Pages), confronting them, cancelling my debit card and trying to get the money back.
I am not happy and I wouldn't recommend anyone use them unless (even if!) they were absolutely desperate.
