Autorent Car Hire

As far as I am aware, AutoRent are located around the Algarve. I have used the Vilamoura office more than once. When I first hired a vehicle, it cost me £135 for a vauxhall astra estate. Not a bad price, but this was in May. The car was ok but rattled a lot. You could tell it had not been serviced too. When I asked to change it I was told that I would have to have a lower spec for the sme price!
My last encounter with them was this June. I pre-booked two ford focus on the Internet with them for which I got free additional driver and a child seat. The cost was quote £108 for the week. I contacted the local office when I arrived in Portugal to ask for my cars to be delivered. A man turned up with a Nissan Micra and a Honda Civic. They said that they had no Ford Focus. Also, they had no baby seats and that I had to buy my own and they would re-inburse me. OK, apart from the inconvenience. They cars were not up to spec and lacked power. I paid on my credit card and when I returned to the UK I received an email from the company to say that they were charging €80 to my credit card for a puncture on one of the cars. Obviously I revoke the claim. I am currently waiting to see if they have charged me. Also, the prices I was quoted on the Internet were wrong. They had an exchange rate of £1 = €1.86. At the time I travelled I only got €1.34 euro to the £1 so it cost a lot more than I expected. I would not suggest to anyone to use this firm. Pay that little bit extra and use a better company or pre book through a tour agent.
