This review is based on my experience of the Bournemouth branch in Southcote Road, just off the Holdenhurst road.
Avis don't like to take the mileage on their cars much over 13,000, so I get the opportunity to change mine on a regular basis and I am always driving a relatively new car.

Reliability 5/5 ======== So far Avis have been reliable, this is vital for me as if there is no car I don't work. My lease car went back at about 10 in the morning, They arranged to deliver a car at 11, they were there at 11.03, which considering that there is only one road in or out of Swanage and it was the height of the tourist season I thought was spectacularly good.
When it came time to swap the car last week I called the depot, they promised to call me when they had arranged a car for me. Two hours later the phone went and 30 minutes after that I was in my new car.

So often when you go into a company I find that I am invisible. With a body mass index of 37 I am amazed at how hard I am to spot. when I went in to Avis the guy was on the phone but immediately acknowledged me with his eyes and I felt welcome. He had observed the car I arrived in and greeted me by name as soon as the call ended. the paperwork for the new car was ready for me to sign and he gave me a hand transferring all my stuff (of which there is a considerable quantity) into the Zafira. In what seemed like no time at all I was back on the road.
Preparation of vehicles 4/5 =====================
Both cars were scrupulously clean on collection. They lose a point for the Zafira not having an owner's manual on board, which made this morning's changing of the clock a bit of a game. The tanks were full and all the oil and water checks were done, as well as tyres.
Pricing 3/5 ========= They are expensive, but then so am I. If my company chooses to use a dearer option that's their lookout. When you compare the cost of car hire in the UK against other countries we find yet another example of rip off Britain. A large car will cost you around £195 for a single day's hire, you could probably negotiate a taxi for the day for that! I suspect however, that my company has a deal with them that delivers a better deal.

I will be honest with you and admit that they are one of the more expensive ones, but the company has an excellent record of customer satisfaction. You are wondering how I know this well, I actually worked for them for 14 years in the customer service head quarters, and only left due to moving house 16 months ago.
Avis have a wide ... ...which are well worth it. Avis have so many different rates, which apply on different types of rental. The best way to check what is on offer is to visit their web-site, which is a very straight forward to use, and it gives you the actual price for what you are looking for, and shows if there are any surcharges that have to be taken into account. The car selection and availability was good, especially given my short notice and the fact that it's peak season. ...all the major companies, and Avis came out as one of the cheapest. I was quoted 1937 Rand (approximately £129) for the total cost of the hire. I confirmed that this included insurance, VAT, etc.. Because Avis is a well-known company with a good reputation, I decided to make the booking. The booking form on the internet was easy to use, and I received an e-mail confirmation of my booking the same day. I was given a booking reference number which I ... ...£8.30.
I immediately contacted Avis by e-mail, and eventually received an explanation. The extra charges were Vehicle License Fee 13.15 Rand(taxable)
9% Airport Fee 96.08 Rand (taxable) Sales Tax 14% 15.29 Rand
which were NOT included in the figure quoted on the internet.

days and during this time we had the most enjoyable experience and probably the best of our complete honeymoon.
There are just so many places and attractions to visit.
For the first 3 days we took the various tours from our hotel and for the next week we rented a car from Avis and explored the city ourselves.
I remember one night, when we were trying to locate a free car park, I unintentionally went down a one-way street and while trying to reverse back out I was stopped by a policeman (cop as the Americans like to say). When we explained that we were on holidays and on our honeymoon he was really very nice and just gave me a warning. He then gave us directions.
The people are really very friendly and helpful. The whole place is just bubbling with life and passion.

When you have accumulated enough points for an award you can either contact the nearest KLM office or you can access their website, enter your membership number and a PIN number (which can be obtained once you get your card) and apply for your award.
One of the great things about this Program is the number of points that you are given for each flight. It is a lot more than other Programs and therefore a lot more profitable to you.
I traveled last year on a total of four flights, with them, to Africa and the Far East and I am already eligible for a Free Ticket to West Africa and back.

I wanted to try Hertz rent-a-car as an alternative to Avis mainly because I had begun to wonder whether I was being ripped off by them. Also, my boss was a regular user of Hertz and he always used them as his preferred hiring option, so I figured that if he was a repeat customer, that could mean good things.
What an utter shambles, from start to finish. First of all, I booked the car online and was using a voucher to pay for part of the rental. I'd spoken to the central customer service team to ensure that everything was set up ok, and have them explain the payment procedure to me, and they were very helpful. Unfortunately, when it came to the day of pickup, the staff on the ground were little better than chimps in terms of actually giving me the car keys and letting me get on with it.
