We had prebooked a Ford Focus estate online with Avis. We arrived mid afternoon and had to wait 30 mins to get seen as they were so busy and obviously not enough staff on duty. The car was in a multi-storey car park about 200 yards away from the main terminal but the directions given were not that clear. No one mentioned finding a lift that worked and going down to the basement level. The car park lift was tiny and I could only just get myself and the luggage trolley into it. My wife and baby had to wait for the lift to come back before they could use it. The rental parking is the basement. The car to begin with was not where the rep said it was so I had to walk around the car park pressing the key remote control looking for flashing lights. After 5 mins I did find it but then there was no baby seat as promised that we had requested. So back to reception in the main terminal and they said the baby seats were in a marked bay on the floor. Nice. I went back to the car park, down the lift again and found the seats in the specified area. The baby seats however were coverless, dirty and some had broken straps. Starting to lose patience at this point. Please bear in mind it is something like 35celsius as well. Back to the main terminal again. I was told this time basically use what's there or nothing! Stunned! Back to the car park but some chap appeared with a brand new baby seat still in it's packaging but refused to assist in fitting it to the rear seat. Now bear in mind the heat, a crying baby, wife not very happy, an Avis rep refusing to assist and the lighting in our section of the car park not working, how difficult it must have been to try and fit a foreign baby seat. Needless to say I managed to keep my cool but how I don't know. Oh and to boot according to Avis the car was full of fuel but as soon as I turned on the ignition there was only 6/8. Find a rep again and get him to verify this and change the paperwork. We finally departed the car park much hot and bothered. Never rent a car from Avis again at this airport.
