OK, what can be said about Ayr. Its got a busy racecourse, a big almost clean beach, a lot of Glaswegians on bank holidays and all the Robert Burns tourism you could possibly want. Fot the under 50's its not wildly interesting but the scenery of the south west scottish coastline from Ayr to Stranraer can be breathtaking. Views of Arran and the Ailsa Craig and especially the sight of the water glistening off the windows of Culzean Castle are pretty amazing. Best to go in summer and dont forget to play golf. Close to both the championship courses of Turnberry and Royal Troon plus another 30 or so very good others you're spoilt for choice.
