I have been to two destinations in the past tweleve months via bmi baby. Both of these were booked and paid for online via www.bmibaby.co.uk. I flew to Amsterdam and Barcelona from Birmingham airport. I booked both about one month before we flew and it came to about £75 per person for both flights (departing and return). Of course depending on when you book you can expect to pay (six months prior) £30 to £200 (last minute) per person (adult). I have only ever booked online, online each filght is £5 cheper than a telephone booking and does not have any travel agency expenses. When booking online you select where you wish to depart from and your destination which are all european. However your local airport may not have the same flights as other airports, for example Birmingham flights may not go to Parague etc. When you have chosen your destination and dates bmi lists all possible flights and prices, which you then chose which is best suited for you. The process in which you pay is step by step and very quick and easy, the website is very user friendly and you also have the choice of booking a specific seat on board (£5 per person)insurance which varies but it quite cheap (minimal cover though) and airport lounge facilities (£15 per person). There is also an option of car hire and hotels which i have not utilised. Once you have booked you recieve an e-mail detailing your flight times, number, and contact details, if you wish to change passenger information, ie names there is a cost of £30. I fly very often (once every month/two months) and have remained impressed by bmi baby's standards comparted to other budget airlines such as easy jet which were awful. Once checking into the airport the flights were on time and staff friendly, you are allowed up to 15 kilos of luggage, hand luggage im not certain about at the moment because of the strict security restrictions due to recent terror threats.When checking in you only have to present your passport, no tickets or anything which makes the flight user friendly. Upon boarding the plane the flight was very plesant, however typical of a budget airline, no inclusive food or drinks, which to buy were quite costly, I paid £8 for two ham and cheese toasties and 2X cups of tea. The toastie was veyr tasty and hot but very greasy, also the tea was simply pants, brand name (typhoo) but not nice at all. There were no onboard screens to map the route and speed/altitiude details, no in flight entertainment etc, also no raido or earphone docks. The staff are of really smart apperance and helpful, not stand-offish like many other air hostess'. The foot space was average for this type of short flight, budget airline, im quite short though so it may be more of an issue for taller people, but it was bearable. I will aways look for booking a flight first with bmi baby from now on, however a bit more variety with the destinations would attract much more custom.
