CASA FRANCI BED BREAKFAST IN ROME

Advantages: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
Disadvantages: Not Hotel for the softies out there.

We Quatro Fontanas (or the Fountain Travel Club) stayed at the casa Franci last October. The first thing to stress is that this is Bed & Breakfast not a Hotel. The owner and his Family used to live in this Flat (Apartment) they have made it into a Bed & Breakfast and have another Apartment nearby. We booked through VENERE.COM which we find is quite a good site for Italian Destinations, one advantage of this site is that you do not have to pay up front when you book. You pay the Hotel on arrival, so if you need to cancel there is no cancellation charges given the correct notice. The Apartment is located in a Steet to the left of St Peters about 200 yards from St Peters. When you arrive you need to be in the end of the street furthest from St Peters Just past a Large Church. You enter through a locked gate ...

A lovely B+B in Devon

Advantages: Convenient, friendly owners, good breakfast.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey

Last summer I spent a few days in Salcombe after my Mum had booked this place as a birthday present for me. It was my first time in Salcombe so I didn't really know what to expect, but my Mum had been going there for years so I was looking forward to discovering it. The Ria View is run by Peter & Bernice Henesey Smith. LOCATION: The Ria View is on Devon Road in Salcombe, Devon. Salcombe is a tiny town on the south coast. The roads to get there are quite windy so take care. Ria View Devon Road Salcombe Devon TQ8 8HQ (0044) (0)1548 842965 PRICES: Prices for a double room at the Ria View start at £62 per night and go up to £84 per night. This includes breakfast. PARKING: The parking at the B+B itself is very limited. We managed to get mine in but there is room for 3 cars and they can only be small cars ...

Modernity in Modena

Advantages: Good stopover. Clean and comfortable
Disadvantages: None for me

When you're travelling through a country which is steeped in history and culture such as italy is, there's nothing like lodging in hotels that are similarly steeped in history and show off the best of that nation's architectural culture. The Holiday inn, Modena fits that particular bill precisely...it's nothing like lodging in ...etc.etc. Suits me sir. If I'm spending the day slogging around ancient ruins, medieval alleyways and tripping over baroque ornamentation, the last thing I want when I lay my weary head to rest is a rickety old metal bed frame, 'rustic' furniture, and hotels just chock-full of 'character'. No sirree bob. I want modernity, non-descript decor, sound-proofed windows and AC that is functional rather than merely decorative. Not always, but mostly. But why would anyone want to visit Modena? Well, there are ...
