While there are loads of high class glitzy eateries and nite spots in San Francisco, nothing's closer to the word 'swank' than the Backflip. Part bar - part club - part restaurant (and actually tasty), this little beauty is nestled in the sometimes unsavory area of Tenderloin.

Advantages: great atmosphere, interior design to die for, fantastic cocktails Disadvantages: the clientelle can be a bit...erm...pretentious

Modelled around an underwater, aquamarine theme, with a genuine pool adjacent to the dining room, the place somehow manages to not make blue depressing. With huge chairs, ... ...crotch, retro lighting fixtures and beautiful glass walls, one would think the mood would be perfect for the drink of your choice. Not that it isn't, but we found the crowds to look a little on the fancy-pants side. This, unfortunately, is expected sometimes in this city.
While the food I've had, Two Bite Burgers: special sauce, tomato, lettuce, fries, and pickle ($8), and something else I can't remember, was good, and the drinks are FANTASTIC, ... more

Modelled around an underwater, aquamarine theme, with a genuine pool adjacent to the dining room, the place somehow manages to not make blue depressing. With huge chairs, some of which seem to be moulded perfectly to your crotch, retro lighting fixtures and beautiful glass walls, one would think the mood would be perfect for the drink of your choice. While the food I've had, Two Bite Burgers: special sauce, tomato, lettuce, fries, and pickle ($8), and something else I can't remember, was good, and the drinks are FANTASTIC, the service can be slow. Perhaps they hurry faster to your table when you're all fancied up in your absolutely bestest outfit. You'll find the club/dance area in the back to be pretty packed with the trendy late 20's crowd, often stacked in body to body. Working a path to the toilets can be as challenging as attempting the latest dance crazes the kids are doing on the dance floor…..'swing those pants babeeee' All in all, a great place for late night cocktails and not too heavy eats.
Advantages: Fantastic staging of a great show Disadvantages: The leading lady blatantly out-shone her leading man
to make out the words of the (usually less well known) songs he sang alone. The lead girl, on the other hand, was great ? adorable, clearly spoken and with an annoyingly good voice. The remaining cast were fine verging on good, though the American accents faded from time to time (but interestingly less so when it came to the non-Brits among the cast). One poor guy had obviously been given the role of gymnast among a very non-acrobatic group, and was cavorting around the stage during the last few numbers, displaying abysmal back-flips that worryingly got quite loud rounds of applause. The casting was quite odd ? the show includes a high school senior class (6th form aged) and some parents and teachers, though the age gap between the two groups was no where near approaching a generation. Now it?s understandable that they?d have 25 year olds ...

Advantages: World beating conditions, terrain, and riders Disadvantages: Expensive and crowded
one of his poles and whirled it 3 times round his head. It was total showmanship, and the crowd erupted, knowing that there was no way back now, and they would shortly be seeing something that normally is only accessible on film or DVD. Sure enough, he didn't disappoint, a 360 down the first 5-6m onto the middle patch of snow, and then, without time to do anything other than straightline downhill from the landing, a huuuuge backflip down at least 10m to the waiting powder below. As he rode away there was a cheer like you normally only hear in a football stadium, and everyone around us was buzzing, pulses racing, eyes shining, talking too fast. This is the kind of atmosphere I have only ever experienced at this resort, which can only happen in a resort like this, where there are so many people who are so committed to skiing and snowboarding ...
Advantages: A holiday you will never forget Disadvantages: Too much to do, too little time....
good? Watch these guys - backflips, handstands, flipping icecubes and glasses and catching them on their backs - stunning! Every so often one of the optics will be taken down and everyone will get some of that drink poured in their mouth - portions are big, but say 'only a little' if you don't want to be completely sloshed! A word of warning - they do not use spirit measures. After a drink the Boyf said he'd like Zombie. Even the bartender said 'Are you sure?!'. Boyf then had the most delish drink but was drunk after not even half the glass. We went there again in the evening and was asked to show our ID by the bouncer - this is compulsory unless you are obviously over the age of 21. According to the bouncer we don't (big smile!!) and he triple checked our ID before he let us in.
Helicopter ride to Grand Canyon - Sounds awful ...
