Advantages: Great, Clean Friendly Hostel Disadvantages: More Expensive
Perth City YHA
Perth City YHA is in a great location, walking distance from the main shopping area and bars and restaurants. Railway and Bus services are close by.
Rooms:
Dorm rooms are available from 4 ? 10 Bed, we opted for a 4 bed dorm room so that we could all stay together, and the room was a good size with two bunk beds. All linen is provided, lockers are available for use in the rooms but you will need your own padlock.
The hostel had an overall feeling of cleanliness which was great and the female bathrooms where very nicely kept.
We had been warned previously that this hostel could be noisy and that you can hear the trains going by at the railway, but we are pleased to say we never heard a thing.
Facilities:
The kitchen at this hostel has to be one of the biggest I have seen; there are also ample food ...
Advantages: friendly, helpful, easy-going, great atmosphere Disadvantages: No powerpoints in the rooms!! Read my review to see why this was a problem!! Small communal kitchen
I stayed in this hostel my first night in Australia - i booked a single room cos I figured after 24 hours on a plane anda rriving in Sydney at 9pm all I would want to do is have a shower and go to bed!! It cost just 19 pounds for a single room which was great considering you would expect to pay at least 10 pounds for a dorm room in Sydney, even up to 20 pounds for a hostel like Wake Up! just a little further down on Pitt Street!
The hostel is located right in the middle of Sydney, within easy walking distance (even if you arel ugging a 20kg backpack around with you!) of Central train station and Museum train station. It is also within walking distance (maybe leave the backpack in your hostel room for this one!) of the harbour and the famous bridge and opera house - this would take around 30-45 minutes so if you aren't feeling very ...
Advantages: It was ok Disadvantages: Impolite, rude and bad mannered staff, not the best hostel regards to the quality.

So we rearranged a number of our plans to ensure we could get a flight earlier and so that we could still do everything we wanted to. We booked ourselves into Home using an online website which we had used before and that generally is cheaper than other comparison websites and cheaper than going directly to the hotel/hostel. We arrived in Sydney by coach at about 11am, we only had to walk around the corner to get to the hostel. The location of the hostel wasnt fantastic, but it was around from Central Station and it it was only a short walk into the city centre which was useful and meant we didnt have to spend money on public transport ...
