Advantages: Beautiful scenery, good location, cheap in summer Disadvantages: Quiet nightlife and expensive ski lifts
This Austrian resort, was once a famous destination which amoung others attracted German Emperor Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia. The resort origionally found its popularity based in the wonderful mountain scenery and spa attractions, which still exsist today next to the Railway Station, which conviently is on a main railway route operated by OBB (Austrian Railways) which ensures easy access by rail to BadGastein and into the Gastein Valley in general.

Advantages: Big valley with lots of skiing Disadvantages: Mountains not linked so some bussing required
I skied here for a couple of days a few years ago, and then went back for a holiday in 2003.

The valley is about an hour and a half fro Salzburg airport, but equally close to the cheaper and smaller Klagenfurt airport, although this route involves putting your car on the train through the tunnel. We still prefer this way though.
BadGastein is a spa town (hence the 'Bad'), which is generally visited by German and Austrian (fairly well-heeled) tourists in the summer seeking the local 'cure' from the baths, along with walkers, and a mixture ...

INTRODUCTION
Ms Larsbaby pointed me in the direction of this book which a friend of hers had read. The point of the book seemed to be to debunk myths around science and in particular the "pseudo-science" peddled by groups as diverse as nutritionists and journalists. Famous health stories would be examined in detail and taken apart where appropriate. My interest piqued, I had a look to see what all the fuss was about.
BRAIN GYMS, HOMEOPATHY AND NUTRITION
The author's targets in the book for peddlers of bad science are many and varied. He highlights some well known cases to highlight his point, though is at pains to point out that many other people are just as bad.
The book examines the Brain Gym initiative, promoted in schools as a way to improve children's results, but what is it actually based on? The findings ...
