...Lake Maggiore is in the North of Italy, and it is a popular destination with Germans, but also locals. You can swim and bathe is some of the beaches on the lake, but not al of them, you should check out on the local newspapers. The west shore, in Piemonte, is richer and with better hotels than the other side of the lake. I like very much the mountains just over the lake, especially in the East side, in Lombardia. In Luino, on the east side, there is a local bar with always very sexy waitresses, it is not far from the small port, near a large supermarket, I do not remember the name of it, but remember some of the employees.... ...feel so cool. If you want to have amazing view of Lake Toba, I'd suggest you to drive on the top of the hill, passing by small villages and having a look on such a beautiful countryside, where you will have similar views. Lake Toba is a so relaxing place, where you will definitely enjoy. When I went to lake Toba, I live in Sinabung hotel, the hotel is on the edge of lake Toba and the rate of hotel is about Rp 300.000. We just walk ahead 20 m to reach lake and we can swim in the lake, too. What's enjoyable swimming in lake Toba, enjoyable and fresh. On Samosir, there is a unique culture called "Batak Toba/Tapanuli" and the nicest thing to do, in my opinion, is to expore the traditional Batak Toba villages to meet the friendly people on Samosir. On lake Toba and Samosir we can find an abundance of cool places to stay, to eat, libraries... Read review
