Advantages: Loads of pubs Disadvantages: A bit dreary, not that much of interest
...After many demands by other members for me to write about Huddersfield, I have finally given in. This could be a rather bumpy, and uncomfortable ride so get ready.
I think it was the crowd of Nottingham Forest supporters that described Huddersfield perfectly – “Your just a small town in Yorkshire”. Hence the title. This was the one and only occasion I bothered to go and watch Huddersfield Town play (lol). Many of their players train on the grounds of the University Halls I lived in, so I thought I might see for myself if they are as bad as people make out. There relegation to Division 2 says it all!
As you may already know I spent several years of my life in Huddersfield as a student; I studied at the university of course. In that time I have seen many changes to Huddersfield, as well as becoming accustomed...

Advantages: Friendly and an ideal size Disadvantages: A wee bit dreary
...I have lived in Huddersfield for 18 years, from birth to leaving for University. The only word which i seem to be able to conjure up for Huddersfield is average. I have been to better places, and similarly i have been to worse.
Huddersfield has a large number and wide variety of pubs and club, none of which are remarkably good. A much better night out can be found in Leeds, which is less than 1/2 hour away by trains(which are regular and run through the night)
Shopping isn't bad. Huddersfield has most of the high street shops along with some great one off shops but nothing to rival the nearby cities.
The people are some of the friendliest i have ever met - strangers are happy to chatter to each other.
The north might not be the warmest place in Britain but it gets a lot colder in Scotland and the South isn't exactly tropical is it...

Advantages: cheap, good food, nice staff Disadvantages: bit grotty
...cedar court hotel is one of the only hotels in huddersfield. it is about half an hour out of the town centre, with really good access to the motorway. pretty close to brighouse, huddersfield and easy to get to leeds and along that way too.
it has wireless internet, reasonable prices with regards to rooms, pretty good food, especially the breakfast and is ideal for anyone on business trips.
the bar prices are expensive, but not compared to otherhotels, so its as you would expect really.
the rooms and lobby etc, can look a bit grotty sometimes, and the hotel does need refurbishing (it hasnt been done for years!) but if all you need is somewhere convenient with decent rooms and nice food, then its perfect!...
