Baggot Inn, Dublin

It has been a couple of years now since I was lucky enough to be able to have a few jars in the Baggot Inn. At that time the pub was owned bt footballing legend Jackie Charlton and was known as "Big Jack's Baggot Inn", I don't know if this is still the case. Everyone in the bar was extremely friendly, including both the customers and the bar staff. The walls were filled with footballing memorabilia, which was great for a football fan but if you are not a fan then it is unobtrusive, it is not just a 'football pub'. The Baggot Inn looks impressive, with its modern feel and location, and for most bars in a city that should be enough. But in a city like Dublin, where pubs are the lifeblood of a young population's social scene, the Baggot Inn sits abreast the city like a bad tempered snob - ignorant, uncool and overpriced. Its relatively few charms are spat back into the face of Dubliner and tourist alike. The pints are excessively priced, the staff are rude, and it appears to be the only pub in the Dublin city center that does not allow guys or girls to wear runners.
