After reading many reviews about this hotel knew it would be excellent, but I had no idea just how excellent it would be!
Negative points - there are none!
We requested a room with a pool view or a seaview and to our delight we received a high up room which had both! The rooms have a good sized balcony and are absolutely spotless. The rooms even have a mini bar which gets filled up every day (always use up the drink that's in it, if you don't they won't give you extra as they just refill what's been used). You get 2 cans of Dorada beer, a can of diet coke, coca-cola, fanta lemon and two bottles of water. There is air-conditioning and also a ceiling fan in the rooms. Overall the room was excellent and extremely clean.
The food was also excellent. There are 2 separate buildings to the Bahia and we stayed in the larger building. You can do anything in each of the buildings but you have to eat in your own building's buffet restaurant and a la carte restaurants. You can eat a la carte 3 times and we had the choice of the Spanish, Italian and Fish restaurants and as none of us like fish we were allowed to go to the Italian twice (although we had to go and book it the day we wanted to eat there). The Spanish restaurant was excellent, we had the steak and the roast chicken (absolutely gorgeous and massive portions!), however our favourite was the Italian! The chef cooks pasta right in front of you and I can highly recommend the Carbonara. The pizza there is good too. In addition, the main buffet restaurant was excellent, there was always plenty to choose from. Breakfast was very good, there was a choice of your normal breakfast foods as well as cereals, cakes, cheese, breads, fruit and a lot more that I never got a chance to try!! We always used to eat breakfast in the Italian restaurant as it was much quieter. There is also snacks available 24 hours a day (hot-dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets, chips, toasted sandwiches). Overall, the food was excellent.
There was so much drink to choose from. There were beer pumps and soft drink pumps everywhere and also tables where wine and spirits were laid out. You can also go to the bar for cocktails, other special drinks and hot drinks (hot choc was lovely).
There are 3 pools, one in the top building, one big pool and a smaller bottom pool in the larger complex which overlooks the sea. We always used to go to the bottom pool as it had nice views and was a bit quieter, however it could get a bit windy sometimes as it was next to the sea. The pools were spotless, however if you wanted a decent sunbed you had to go down about 8.30ish and reserve one, as there was the usual early birds out putting towels on the best ones at 6 in the morning!!
The reception staff were excellent and helpful as were the cleaners, restaurant staff and bar staff.
The hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere, which is why many people may not like it, however this really doesn't matter if you want a relaxing holiday. The hotel really does have everything you could ever need! Playa Paraiso is about a 10 minute walk away and has a really good supermarket, but it doesn't have much else to offer. There is also a hotel bus that goes into Las Americas. Taxis also sit outside the hotel a lot so you won't be stuck at the hotel for your full holiday!
We booked a trip through our rep to go out on the catamaran to see the whales and dolphins and I can highly recommend it. It was brilliant to see the whales and the dolphins out in the wild swimming right up beside the boat! It really was fantastic and well worth the money.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is definitely the best hotel we have ever stayed in and we will be going back asap! If you book this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

We always used to sunbathe of the playa there - the beach.
The bajia prinipale is the best hotel in tenerife.Paraiso on the other hand, the 'town' you mention nearby is little more than a street isnt it lol. Nothing there at all really.
Used to go there alot with my then partner who was on the circuit as a reggae singer.
Mad Mitch and he certainly was bloody mad.
