This is an excellent 4* hotel. The building is the tallest building in Thailand and staying there itself is an experience. There are three zones and the lobby itself is on 18th floor. The hotel is also known as Baiyoke 2 hotel. Same taxi drivers do not know it by Baiyoke Sky but rather Baiyoke 2 Hotel so take note.

Introduction:
The rooms are in standard zone, sky zone and space zone. If you are staying on 22nd to 45th floor, it's the standard zone. Space zone is from 69th floor to 74th floor. Needless to say, the higher you go, you get to see more of Bangkok from your room. The rooms are all very big by even Asia standard and if you book online, the rates could be cheaper than a 3* hotel.

Location:
Very central location. As soon as you step out the building, the road in front of the hotel is full of stalls selling cheap (very very cheap indeed) stuff. You can get a Polo tee for 199 Baht (aprox. £3) and a pair of shorts for 79 Baht (approx £1.5). Walk straight and you'll find Platinum Fashion Mall at the other end of the road. Platinum Fashion Mall is another shopping haven and I strongly recommend you to dine at the food court. (It's also another experience. You need to purchase a card before ordering and they'll refund you unused amount in the card if you ask).

The best way to get out/back to the hotel is to take a taxi. If there are more than 3 of you, it's cheaper to take a taxi than to taking the skytrain. We also avoided tuk-tuk as we were warned by the hotel that tuk-tuk will charge you more and they also try to cheat you.

Service:
Excellent service. There are a lot of staff at the lobby and all look ready to help. When we check in, we were told to show our passports and my credit card was taken to guarantee deposit. We booked 2 rooms standard zone and we were asked if our group only consists of ladies. When we said yes, they asked us do we mind if they upgrade us to the sky zone. Wow of course not I don't mind a free upgrade!!! We then found out that there is a lady's floor in the hotel on the 65th floor and as we are only ladies, we were given two rooms on that floor. After signing all the necessary cards etc, we were given welcome drink voucher for a fruit punch.

We checked in at 12pm and initially we were told that the rooms will only be ready by 2pm the standard check in time but shortly after that, we were told that the rooms are ready and we can go to our rooms immediately. We were quite happy as we were dead tired after the flight.

Security:
You need your key card to access your floor. At least one hotel staff will be stationed at the lift area to assist guests with the lift. The public floors such as the gym, the restaurants on the 78th floor etc do not require a key card for access but mind you, if you are a non-hotel guest and you would like to visit those floors or dine there, you need to purchase ticket at the lobby first and show it to the staff at the lift area before you can even enter the lift.

Room:
All rooms are large. Our sky zone rooms are slightly larger than those on the standard floors. The only extra for our floors are the sofa. There is also shower and bath. Hairdryer is in the room but there is no iron. The hotel has also provided a three-pin adaptor in each room so don't worry if you left your travel adaptor at home. Each room is also given 2 complimentary bottles of water everyday (150ml).

Supermarket:
There is a Family Mart at the lobby which opens 24 hours. Surprisingly, the prices are not marked up. If you need to buy mineral water. I strongly recommend buying the Nestle brand as the local Thai brand water has a strange taste.

Restaurants:
The buffet breakfast is served on the 76th or 78th floor. Both floors serve the same food. You need to go to the 7tth floor (observation deck) then take the stairs to these floors. The hotel is well-known for its spread of choices. After breakfast, take time to walk around 77th floor as there are many photo corners. The restaurants also have daily buffet lunch and buffet dinner. Hotel guests get a 50% discount so you only pay 470 Baht (approx. £7.5). Strongly recommend to try their buffet dinner one night.

I must also tell you about their fruits buffet at the fruits court (open daily from 9am to 10pm). You pay 150 Baht (approx £2.4) for all-you-can-eat in 90 minutes. You get to eat typical Thailand fruits such as durian, longgan, mango etc fresh or preserved it's your choice. Needless to say, the famous Thai coconut drinks are there too.

Revolving Roof:
Hotel guests can access 84th floor for free. It's an open air revolving roof deck. As this is the tallest building in Thailand, it's the best place for you to see Bangkok from here, day or night. We enjoyed pointing out the shopping malls we went to during the day.

Rates:
We paid 5000 Baht for 3 nights (per person, twin sharing, buffet breakfast included). This includes 2-way airport transfers and a complimentary half day tour. There are lots of travel agencies which advertise such packages online and they are mostly the same so just book on the internet.

Things to note :
Traffic is terrible everywhere in Bangkok. You must go to the airport at least 3 hours before your flight departure time to avoid massive traffic jam. The immigration is also very slow so always give more time to clear.
