The cheesiest club in the Northeast has to be Baja - a beach themed club in Gateshead which plays the likes of Jackson 5. but its strangely really fun!!

Situated on the edge of the Tyne on the Gateshead side of the swingbridge and nextdoor to the Tuxedo Princess aka "the boat" Baja is at the centre of one of Newcastles biggest nightspots, nearby to loads of pubs and bars to get u started on a night out. From what i can gather Baja is open all week, with the main party night on Saturday when all the locals come down toon to party!!

Baja basically is a beach themed nightclub, emphasising on just having really good fun rather than hardcore clubbing. The main clientele is students and locals late teens and early twenties and there is really no hastle betwen locals and students with everyone really friendly towards each other. There is a large central dancefloor charmingly known as "the pen" cos it can get very tight at times with seating surrounding it as well as two fully stocked cocktail bars with scantily clad barstaff for the ladies. Upstairs is another large and well staffed bar, a cafe, seating and plenty of us lined up on the banister laughing at the poor fools in the pen below. There is good cheesy music played all night , usually well mixed and everyone so often bar staff appear on stage dressed up as the jackson 5, Blondie, village people, etc. doing a dance routine, which is usually quite a god giggle. However the highlight for me of the entire club is the "Bottle Babes" stunning bar girls stood in their bikinis behind large chillers full of bottles which are dotted all over the club, so you're never morethen three steps from a drink or eye candy, not to mention the large burley bouncers of which each girl has one assigned to them.

As far as cash is concerned its fairly reasonable depending on which night you go:
Mondays are always busy with students and locals, £3 in £2 a bottle and no more then £2-3 for most cocktails, shooters, pints. Tuesday thru to thursday is priced the same but is free entry for all students.
Friday night is the same as Monday £3 in for everyone.
Finally on Saturday, which is always the busiest the prices jump considerably to £6 in and £3 a bottle, which is why students usually avoid Baja and go to the unions instead, leaving it free for a proper locals night.

If you're living in the Northeast and never been Baja I'd recommend you to check it out, although not the most impressive of what Newcastle nightlife has to offer, it is a fairly cheap fun relaxed night out, where u can just chill, drink and dance with your friends. I must warn hardcore clubbers that dont enjoy cheesy music to steer clear and head away from the quayside towards WHQs or Foundation.

Theres one of these clubs in Leeds that I've been to a few times. Incredibly cheesy, but ok if you've had enough alcohol to forget where you are!
