Bakhchisaray (pronounced "back-chee-sa-rye"), a small town on the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine, is moderately well known as the former capital of the region known as "Little Tatary", a khanate that existed from the beginning of the fifteenth century until almost the end of the eighteenth century. The name Bakhchisaray means "garden palace" in Persian and the former Khan's palace is the main draw of Bakhchisaray in terms of tourism.
