Advantages: Beautiful beaches and rugged scenery Disadvantages: Expensive around Costa Smeralda
...on the Costa Smeralda is Baia Sardinia, it is popular with holiday makers and day trippers and we visited a couple of times, enjoying browsing through the little shops- selecting some postcards to send home, popular with locals too who seemed to flock there on the Sunday afternoon to enjoy lunch overlooking the sea. Advantages: Great accommodation, good service and facilities Disadvantages: Small beach, not much else to do
...We stayed in a three bedroomed villa in the grounds of this hotel. The villa was beautiful with full air conditioning, a well furnished terrace and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The pool was good and the children spent alot of time in it but there was the usual problems securing a sunbed unless you were up early or waited until lunchtime. The beach was a little disappointing - it was small and there were sharp rocks underfoot in the water so not suitable for small children. Sunbeds on the beach were not included in the hotel price and were expensive - the beach is not exclusive to the hotel and is a few minutes walk and across the busy coast road. We tried beaches further up the coast, but had to travel a few miles to find a better one. The restaurant was good and we enjoyed the food.
We visited PortoCervo and found...
