We have been going to Zakynthos for many years and always take a day to visit this part of the island. Its beautiful, but has got very busy in recent years. The beaches on this side of the island are very laid back and tranquil. We have always called it 'Our little taste of the Carribean'. You do need to watch out for oil though, coming from the nearby beaches and the watersports. Its not a lot, but can be annoying when you get a blob stuck on the bottom of your foot. It was a shame, the last time we went, as the sand had been puched up from the sean onto the beach which created a bit of a cliff edge when going for a swim. The calm sea is great for families but the sand gets very hot so beach shoes are a must. I would recommend anyone who hires a car to definitely check out this part of the island.
