Turning nuts into gold

Advantages: Lovely smell, luxurious, a high-end brand...
Disadvantages: ...which is reflected in the price

the size of a 1 pence piece to thoroughly wash my hands. ~ Why is it so expensive ! ~ Money might not grow on trees but Shea nuts do. The trees primarily favour the semi-arid conditions found in Western Africa where they grow naturally. Burkina Faso, one of the world?s poorest countries, is said to have the most abundance of trees. Primarily farmed by women in rural areas, it?s nickname there is ?woman?s gold?. So, although there?s an abundance of the nuts waiting to be harvested in theory, the price is probably reflective of it?s popularity in developed countries. Shea butter, or milk, is widely used in moisturisers, mostly at the higher end of the market. It?s known to soften skin, and is also found in many hair conditioners besides this L?Occitane range. Review of L'Occitane Shea Butter Extra Gentle Wash for Hands & Body

No mango goes, like a mango goes!

Advantages: Taste, Taste, Taste, Quality
Disadvantages: None

the good of humans and nature? Now with a phrase like that they?ve got to be good! Ingredients wise it contains mangoes and milk chocolate (minimum 34% cocoa solids!) The mangoes are produced in Burkina Faso (which is in Africa), the cocoa comes from Bolivia and the sugar from the Philippines. There is no nutritional information on the packet A bar will set you back 85 pence, it is quite expensive, but I found it to be really quality. ** What is it like? ** You open the wrapper, and you find a long thin bar covered in milk chocolate. It smells very much like a strong Swiss chocolate, very nice! But not surprising as they are made by a Swiss company. Breaking a piece off you can see the thick chocolate outer coating, and the soft inner. The inner is a sort of dark brown colour, and quite pliable. If you are used to seeing ...

Review of Mangola Bar

A Shea delight!

Advantages: Softens, moisturises & repairs. 100% natural & organic. Longlasting tin.
Disadvantages: May seem too expensive.

their products. L'Occitane cite their core values as: 'authenticity, simplicity, sensory pleasure and respect for people and the planet'. Now, onto the main focus of this review: Shea Butter. It originates from the kernels of Shea tree fruits in West Africa, which are harvested, dried and ground into a fine paste which then becomes Shea Butter. It is this, and this only, which fills L'Occitane Shea Butter tins. If you look on the back of a tin and read the ingredients, you will see that it says only 'Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) fruit'. This is a 100% natural and organic product, which L'Occitane obtain through fair trade from Burkina Faso, West Africa. I'd like to say a few words about the packaging. L'Occitane are very minimalist in their packaging in order to keep environmental damage to a minimum. Tins of Shea Butter ...
