This Place has Been Touched By Midus & Turned To Gold.

Advantages: Stunning looking buildings and plenty of Thai history....
Disadvantages: The heat from the sun and crowds.

...on going to Bangkok in the near future. Wat Phra also known as the grand palace, is a huge part of Bangkok and Thailand's culture, so on our visit this was a must as I had researched the trip extensively and this along with a few other attractions was on the top of our list. Out of all of the attractions that me and my husband visited this has to be one of the best, even though I have visited the Wat Pho and the Wat Arun and thought that each was ...
...Wat Phra had stolen the lime light from the other two places I had visited, the sheer magnitude of the place fascinated me and I found myself more in grossed in the history and culture in this attraction, than I did at the other two. WAT PHRA & GRAND PALACE HISTORY During the tour of Wat Phra and the Grand Palace we were given the history of the place, it was originally constructed in 1782 and was completed and opened for the King Ramas coronation ...

Siam Ocean World

...were there we visited the Siam Ocean World. Location The Siam Ocean World is located on the first and second floors of the Siam Paragon Shopping centre which is pretty much in the middle of the City of Bangkok. Siam Ocean World The entrance consists of the ticket booths where visitors can purchase their tickets. The tickets vary in price depending on what you want to see when you get in. WE decided we wanted to see the 4D Theatre, the Glass Bottom ...
...Just inside the entrance to Siam Ocean World, there is a gift shop called Shark Shop where you can purchase the normal merchandise of key rings, paperweights and mugs etc. Just to the left of the entrance, there is an education room where talks are held, this is mainly for school groups. 4D Theatre. The film showing at the time we went was a pirate comedy film which was about 30 minutes in duration. You are given the 4D glasses on entry and your ...

The Wild Side Of Bangkok

Advantages: Cheap entrance, lots to see and do, very scenic
Disadvantages: None

Myself and my boyfriend visited Bangkok Zoo in October 2007. Getting there Bangkok Zoo is easily accessible by public transport. There are bus routes that run directly there or you can get a tuk tuk which is the option we chose. We paid £4 for a return journey to the zoo from our hotel. Admission Prices We paid £3.50 each for admission to the zoo which we thought was very reasonable as the zoo is quite large. Bangkok Zoo Bangkok Zoo covers ...
...holds nearly 300 mammals, over a thousand birds and nearly 300 reptiles. We found the zoo to be spacious and relaxing. There is a large lake in the middle of the zoo, and several picnic areas dotted around. Sections of the zoo are joined by bridges which lead you over the lake. The zoo is split up into sections such as the African Savanah where you can see gifarres, zebras, hippos and ostriches just to name a few. The animals all had decent sized ...

Supermarket

Advantages: sells Euorpean Food, open 24/7
Disadvantages: Can get busy

You can find typical Western Food in this Thai supermarket chain - they even sell english tea bags and nearly anything else that you could buy in a Tesco in the UK, in case you had enough of Thai Food or want a quick snack (there is a good restaurant counter within the supermarket - it doesn get quite busy though). They also have lovely fresh bagels, cakes and bread. You will find most european groceries much cheaper here than in the International ...

For first time visitors to Bangkok...

Advantages: can be found easily
Disadvantages: expensive, tourist trap

Grand Palace used to be the official residence of the King of Thailand, from around the 18th to mid-20th century. Now it's more of a ceremonial site, and can be a nice attraction for tourists. I made the mistake of planning our visit to the Grand Palace a little too late in the afternoon. (The palace closes around 3:30pm) When we told our tuktuk driver that we wanted to head over there, he told us that the palace is about to close. So, we had to ...
...thing to consider before heading there is to wear long pants/skirts/jeans and closed shoes. One of my companions made the mistake of wearing shorts and she was forced to wear a sari to cover her legs. You don't want to have an uncoordinated outfit in your pictures, believe me... :) The entrance fee can be quite expensive at 300 baht, which is all the more reason to go there early so that your visit won't be cut off if you go there too late. The ...
