Advantages: A crazy and diverse place, lots of things going on, great atmosphere Disadvantages: Lots of traffic pollution, very busy
Bangkok is a complete mayhem of a city and the hustle and bustle of the place is just mad. You will never find another place quite like it. Everywhere you go there are taxis and tuk tuks speeding past you, market stalls along the streets, people trying to lure you into shops and bars, and hot food steaming from food carts in the roads. The amount of things going on never ceased to amaze me and for a first timer, it can be a very daunting. Bangkok ... ...pollution. We only stayed in Bangkok for 2 nights but we both left with sore throats which I can only assume was from the pollution of traffic. If you're looking for somewhere cheap, exciting and diverse to stay then Koh San Road is the place to go. There are literally hundreds of different types of accommodation to stay in suiting all budgets. It's also a perfect place to stay as it's in the centre of everything and the markets here are incredible. ...

Review of Bangkok in general
Advantages: Offers something for everyone, cheap Disadvantages: Not easy on the eye, choose where you stay based on the kind of holiday you want
...managed to convince me that Pattaya would be a great destination for a family holiday. However, he did manage it and more to the point, our visit was a memorable one. Whilst I cannot say I have any desire to ever go back, I am glad I have seen one of Thailand’s main beach resorts which is the antithesis to more traditional destinations such as Koh Samui or Hua Hin. Pattaya is often known as “Bangkok on Sea”, and the town itself is situated just over ... ...to travel from Bangkok to Pattaya by bus despite the fact it wasn’t much cheaper than taking a taxi. This is because we had had some terrible experiences with Thai taxi drivers in the past – including one who was drunk and spent most of the journey on a motorway talking into his mobile phone. We felt, perhaps vainly, that a bus driver might not indulge in such reckless driving. Pattaya owes its existence to US soldiers on so-called RnR visits during ...
Advantages: Lots of Bargains to be found Disadvantages: Heat, can get very busy
I was last in Bangkok May 2008. The first thing that hits you when you step out of the new International airport is the heat and humidity. Tired and looking forward to getting some sleep in the hotel my husband and I searched for a taxi. When you walk through the airport you will probably be approached by friendly Thai's offering you cheap transport. In my opinion the price is not cheap they ask for around 900 - 1000 bahts (£15). If you leave the ... ...able to get a taxi for between 300 - 500 baht (to downtown Bangkok). I would also recommend asking the driver to take the Express way (this cuts out a lot of traffic!). This is an extra 60 baht which you give the driver at the Express Way toll station.
There are so many things to see and do in Thailand you probably won't fit it all in during your first visit. If you like shopping then you have come to the right place. Everywhere you look there are ...
Advantages: Fantastic bargains and a tremendous experience. Disadvantages: Very busy.
Sampeng Lane is the main artery of Chinatown. It's a well kept secret that few tourists manage to find. The chances of stumbling across it are quite remote as it is a very narrow lane that runs from Songsawat Road in the East to Chakraphet Road in the West, running parallel to Charoen Krung (New Road) between there and the river. The whole lane is so narrow that you can cross it in two paces, or you could if it weren't so crowded. For the most part ... ...keeping to the right. Sampeng Lane is the second little lane on your right. There are usually lots of people crossing the road at this point, and there's often a policeman on duty. You'll know you've found the place when you see all the stalls and shops, but don't forget we are talking about a very narrow lane, not wide enough for a car to go down without dismantling the stalls. The other half is over the road, going west and when you emerge the ...
Advantages: A little adventure Disadvantages: basic
Kanchanaburi is a very special place. I have been to Thailand twice for a month each time and I made sure I revisited Kanchanaburi the second time. Kanchanaburi is about 2 hours drive west of Bangkok, some people take only a day to visit on an organised tour and only go to the war graves and the bridge over the river Kwai ( which got its fame from the film of the same name). Although it is interesting to do these things it is worth a longer stay ... ...which was organised through a tour operator in Bangkok me and my partner stayed in some very basic accomodation on the river, infact it was so basic we had to more some where else. this accomodation was part of kitty raft tour. I do recomend staying in accomodation that is more expensive on its own island! Its name is Kasem Island resort, it has its own boat to go back and forward between mainland. Whilst there you should also check out the Tiger ...
