Sylhet provides sanctuary in winter to millions of migratory birds, mostly from Siberia. Known as "the land of two leaves and a bud", Sylhet's terraced tea gardens, rolling countryside, colourful Khasia and Manipuri tribes, eye-catching orange groves and pineapple plantations, tropical jungles and exotic flora and fauna will attract you. Also known as the land of saints and savants including Hazrat Shah Jalal, its people are known for their hospitality and craftsmanship.
And topping it all, the famous Manipuri dance will enliven your evenings out in the open --- of course, by prior arrangement. Exquisite handmade Manipuri fabrics and cane and bamboo products are the popular souvenirs.
Sylhet has a good deal of natural gas reserves and limestone deposits and is the home for tea, cement and paper industries. Sylhet tea is used the world over. The tea gardens in the area produce millions of pounds of tea every year, mostly for export. A Tea Research Institute is located at Srimangal. The district is also known, for its delicious pineapples and oranges. Maulvi Bazar, Chaftak, Jaflong and Fenchuganj are some of the other interesting places to visit.
Riding on the Rickshaw was the most exciting experience I had.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
The review could have been much more subjective ........luring customers. No indication is there regarding the comparative qualities of other 'World famous Tea' from India and Sri Lanka.
