My wife and I spent the second week of our honeymoon at the Banyan Tree on Mahe Island in the Seychelles. It was the most perfect week of our lives and for our honeymoon we could not have imagined anything so perfect.
This resort is on a secluded end of the island however the coastline there is a little rough at times. Anyway, with infinity pools in each room, and a massive infinity pool in the communal area of the hotel, there is no need to swin in the sea.
When arriving at the resort, a prisitine white house greets and, standing infront is placed a huge Banyan Tree which is light up at night. The staff could not be more friendly and, after the welcome cocktail and photo (which was presented to us at the end in a frame) we were taken to our villa.
There are choices of villa: hilltop, seafront, pool. We stayed in the much more secluded (but cheaper) hilltop villa. The views went on for miles and no one can see into the villa or the pool/ sundeck area. The room was perfect with a bed adorned with petal every night and a present left for us. The sunken bath and spa treatments complimented the perfect surroundings.
Each time we wanted to move around the 'resort', a personal driver would transport us on a buggy. Whether this was to have a massage (much recommend the lomi-lomi massage), to the swimming pool, to the tennis court or to the restaurant.
The restaurants meant that we necer had to leave the resort if we didn't want to, although we did drive around the rest of the gorgeous island one day. A choice of two restaurants - a Thai and a mixture. Both are perfect and the food is really top quality both in taste and presentation.
For a honeymoon this is a perfect, perfect adventure. The prices are high as one might expect, but if you book early and shop around you will get a good deal. Remember, honeymooners always get a deal at these resorts.
