Bar Oz has long been around since when I was a kid. I always used to marvel at it thinking that i'd find real Australians in there. Nevermind.
Location. You'll find Bar Oz Just across the road from Newcastle Civic centre, just behind Newcastle University. It isn't actually in any of the main areas on a night out but it's usually just a daytime bar or somewhere that you'd go to watch the match. Everytime that i've been in the place has been packed which is always a good thing even though that you'll sometimes struggle to get to the bar.
Prices. Prices in Bar Oz are fairly normal. I'd say they're no cheaper or more expensive than any of the other bars. You'll also be able to pick up a few shooters etc. The choice is yours.
Amenities. Toilets and facilities are pretty good. Although you have to go under the building itself (Using the stairs). You may get lost the first time you look for them but you soon get used to it. The bar also has an eating area should you fancy popping in for a meal during the day while you've been shopping.
Clientele. This bar is mainly used by the football fans, during match days it will usually have the big screens on for the all important Newcastle matches. Students sometimes go in their too but not during match days.
Bar Staff. The bar staff are always friendly and I cannot complain. I think they mainly come from the Uni.
Food. Can't really say as i've never had any food from there.
Decor. As you'd expect Bar Oz has various paraphenalia to do with the aussie nation, surfboards etc. Has a pretty good aussie feel to it, apart from the heat. But in Newcastle, you can't really blame them.
All in all i'd say it's a fairly decent bar but it isn't really for starting a night off.

bar oz is a meeting point 4many non geordies. go in when ireland are playhng - full of irish, when liverpool are playing full of scousers, Spurs playing - full of Jews. i know u find some 'away' supporters in other bars, but this place is unique!
