Mango Bay Paradise

I have been to Mango Bay twice and will be going again in February 08. It is an all inclusive resort, takes about 40 minutes to get there from the airport. It has lush tropical gardens and I was very impressed with the place, the rooms were spotless, the maids came and turned the bed down every evening and left a little chocolate on the pillow. ...The whole setting of Mango Bay is magical, pure white beach, lush tropical gardens, the waves lapping, it is a slice of paradise. We have decided that it is our favourite place, and we have stayed at quite a few hotels on the island, this is the best quality everything. Review of Mango Bay, Holetown

Good value hotel

Advantages: Great location opposite a lovely beach. Good service and comfort
Disadvantages: Not a luxurious hotel, and not very modern

Time Out at the Gap is a nice hotel, comfortable, even if not very modern. The swimming pool is nice and clean, good size when not too busy (we went out of seson, in mid-november), it might get crowded during the season. The rooms are clean, but would need refurbishment: updating bathrooms and repainting would be good). The staff is not always very friendly, which is a shame, as locals are usually very friendly. I would definitely recommend this ...
...good value for money. The location is great in St Lawrence Gap, the tourist area of Barbados, with bars, and pubs and lots of retaurants within a walking distance to choose from. The hotel can book excursions for you, or reserve a cab. They also give out beach towels. All rooms are air-conditionned. Ask for a room with balcony (good size) and pool or beach view. It is by no means luxury, but it is an acceptable, quiet, 2 to 3 star hotel. ...

Review of Time Out at the Gap, St. Lawrence

Sun, sea, sand and lots of rum punch

Advantages: Great value, amazing facilities
Disadvantages: Hard to leave

I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Bougainvilleas resort in Barbados. So off I went with 16 other people including my husband. The group ranged in age from 25 - 80 so werent sure quite what to expect. Well the holiday got off to a bad start as our flight was 11 hours late, but never mind that is not the hotels fault! Review of Barbados Beach Club, Oistins

Sandy Lane location for less than an arm and a leg

Advantages: Location next door to the rich folks. Same scenery for less salary.
Disadvantages: Rooms in need of modernisation.

Overall good with some areas for improvement necessary. We visited in 2003. Recent guest comments (2007) reflect the same experience, so they have not moved on. The beach location is excellent, especially as it is right next door to Sandy Lane Bay, which you can walk across or swim off, disturbing the celebrities on "their" beach. It's on the west coast of Barbados which is well sheltered from the Atlantic winds. The service in the restaurant was ...

The price includes afternoon rum punch from the beach bar, but don't have too many in the heat of the day.
