Excellent value base for a great holiday
Advantages: Good location, reasonably priced, comfortable Disadvantages: Not the most luxurious and could be more friendly
...hotels in Barbados than the Butterfly Beach but you’ve got to pay a lot more and unless you want to go fully inclusive and stay in your resort, or have money to burn, I’d suggest you save your money and stay at the Butterfly.

We stayed at the Butterfly Beach hotel for a fortnight in June 2007. All rooms are self-catering and list prices start at around $100US per night. After a lot ... ...Hotel Facilities

The Butterfly is starting to show its age, everything is well maintained and is clean but to capitalise on its stunning location it could do with a refurbishment. This would however enable them to charge considerably more.
There are sun-decks with plenty of loungers and seating in the shade. The gardens are well looked after and have a selection of attractive flowering shrubs that are home to many different ...

Sun, sea, sand and lots of rum punch
Advantages: Great value, amazing facilities Disadvantages: Hard to leave
I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Bougainvilleas resort in Barbados. So off I went with 16 other people including my husband. The group ranged in age from 25 - 80 so werent sure quite what to expect.
Well the holiday got off to a bad start as our flight was 11 hours late, but never mind that is not the hotels fault!
CHECK IN: Well we did arrive at two in the morning so the poor night steward couldnt really cope - it took an hour ... ...is lovely at night and they brought us some rum punch and apple juice to drink whilst waiting.
ROOM: We had a "deluxe studio" which was on the ground floor. It had a comfortable double bed, satellite TV, a sofa and table. There was a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer and hot plate so you could cook your own meals.
WELCOME PACK: We received a box with half a dozen eggs, bread, coffee / tea , jam and milk which was a fantastic extra.

Sandy Lane location for less than an arm and a leg
Advantages: Location next door to the rich folks. Same scenery for less salary. Disadvantages: Rooms in need of modernisation.
Overall good with some areas for improvement necessary. We visited in 2003. Recent guest comments (2007) reflect the same experience, so they have not moved on.
The beach location is excellent, especially as it is right next door to Sandy Lane Bay, which you can walk across or swim off, disturbing the celebrities on "their" beach. It's on the west coast of Barbados which is well sheltered from the Atlantic winds. The service in the restaurant was ... ...the time; but when they were busy we sometimes felt entirely forgotten. Food was pretty good with a reasonably wide choice. The price includes afternoon rum punch from the beach bar, but don't have too many in the heat of the day.
Our pool courtyard suite was a bit shabby and needed modernising, particularly the bathroom/shower, still a problem in 2007. c.£850pppw inc flights. ...

escape at the gap
Advantages: too many to mention Disadvantages: none really
Positives:
We stayed here in 2006 for our honeymoon. It is the best holiday we have ever had! We upgraded to an oceanfront penthouse appartment. We had 2 floor 2 balconys a huge bedroom, bathroom, dressing room, lounge and kitchen (even though it was all inclusive!)
The staff were all really friendly, it was right on the beach (golden sandy beach and beautiful clear blue sea)
The food was gorgeous, the best restaurant was the one on the beach ... ...pools were small (but who needs one with such a gorgeous beach and the sea)
The sellers on the beach could be a bit of a pain, usually if you said no thanks they would go away, but one in particular was a bit pushy.
I would go here again if i could x x ...

Picture postcard location
Advantages: Beach location Disadvantages: Seems more set up for business clients than tourits
The Accra is a very clean, spacious hotel with what appears to be its own beach. With no other hotel along this stretch of crystal blue sea, you sometimes feel you have the island to yourself. With pure white sands, this hotels location is picture postcard. The hotel has numerous reateries, bars and even has a poolside swim up bar where you can order food as well. The ocean view room we had was spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the beautiful ...
