...available, we decided on The Barbados Beach Club near Oistins on the South Coast of the Island. The lastminute.com price of £1800, kids being free, for a 2 weeks stay for an "all inclusive break" within a "family friendly" 3 star hotel we felt was a deal not to be missed. Thus we immediately booked our "Superior Deluxe" accommodation with adjoining rooms safe in the knowledge that the facilities available would more than meet the needs of me, my ... ...14th April we landed on Barbados soil at the Grantly Adams International Airport at 3pm Bajan time (5 hours behind G.M.T.) enveloped in a comfortable 30 degrees heat. A temperature that I knew would ensure that most of the contingent from this flight would be lying gingerly on their beds by the following evening caked from head to toe in Hawaiian Tropical Aloe Vera After-Sun Gel whilst wishing they hadn't purchased the low protection factor Bronzing ...

HEAT, HUMIDITY...AND A HURRICANE CALLED LILI
Advantages: friendly people, warm turquoise waters Disadvantages: I had to come home!
...holiday to the 3 star Coconut Court Hotel in Barbados on an all-inclusive basis for a total of £1,672.00 for the two of us. (Yes, I know that this is a bit dearer than visiting a Greek island, but what the hell!!)
We have visited the Caribbean before, but this was our first visit to Barbados. We flew from Gatwick to Bridgetown in mid-September, having booked the holiday about a fortnight previously.
After about an eight -hour flight we landed at ... ...at the family - run Coconut Court Beach Hotel, which is situated, on the beach near the town of Hastings. Built on the southern side of the island, calm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea lap the beach made from coral sand. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean wash the north and east coast of the island.
This area of Hastings is quite run down; some buildings are derelict and falling down. A lot of the houses are in need of renovation and the pavements, ...

Peaceful and friendly
Advantages: quiet Disadvantages: a bit isolated
...in 2005 and stayed at Sandridge Beach hotel with Vigin Holidays on an all inclusive holiday. The food at this hotel was very good, there are only two restaurants one buffet and one speciality restaurant, that requires a reservation and changes theme each evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the ocean front room which was very spacious but the bathroom does need updating. Our airconditioning also ... ...holiday. The hotel is set directly on the beach but there is a reef close to shore so it is quite rocky. The hotel has non-motorised watersports and a trip on a glass bottom boat to see the Turtles was included. The location is very peaceful but it is quite a distance away from the nightlife of St Laurence's gap and unless you hire a Mini Moke (car) then you are confined to the hotel for the evening and entertainment is limited. ...

Sun, sea, sand and lots of rum punch
Advantages: Great value, amazing facilities Disadvantages: Hard to leave
I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Bougainvilleas resort in Barbados. So off I went with 16 other people including my husband. The group ranged in age from 25 - 80 so werent sure quite what to expect.
Well the holiday got off to a bad start as our flight was 11 hours late, but never mind that is not the hotels fault!
CHECK IN: Well we did arrive at two in the morning so the poor night steward couldnt really cope - it took an hour ... ...is lovely at night and they brought us some rum punch and apple juice to drink whilst waiting.
ROOM: We had a "deluxe studio" which was on the ground floor. It had a comfortable double bed, satellite TV, a sofa and table. There was a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer and hot plate so you could cook your own meals.
WELCOME PACK: We received a box with half a dozen eggs, bread, coffee / tea , jam and milk which was a fantastic extra.
