Sun, sea, sand and lots of rum punch
Advantages: Great value, amazing facilities Disadvantages: Hard to leave
I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Bougainvilleas resort in Barbados. So off I went with 16 other people including my husband. The group ranged in age from 25 - 80 so werent sure quite what to expect.
Well the holiday got off to a bad start as our flight was 11 hours late, but never mind that is not the hotels fault!
CHECK IN: Well we did arrive at two in the morning so the poor night steward couldnt really cope - it took an hour ... ...is lovely at night and they brought us some rum punch and apple juice to drink whilst waiting.
ROOM: We had a "deluxe studio" which was on the ground floor. It had a comfortable double bed, satellite TV, a sofa and table. There was a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer and hot plate so you could cook your own meals.
WELCOME PACK: We received a box with half a dozen eggs, bread, coffee / tea , jam and milk which was a fantastic extra.

Mango Bay Paradise
Advantages: Everything was great, loved it. Disadvantages: None
I have been to Mango Bay twice and will be going again in February 08. It is an all inclusive resort, takes about 40 minutes to get there from the airport. It has lush tropical gardens and I was very impressed with the place, the rooms were spotless, the maids came and turned the bed down every evening and left a little chocolate on the pillow. The bathroom had complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap. as well as a hairdryer. There is a free safe ... ...The whole setting of Mango Bay is magical, pure white beach, lush tropical gardens, the waves lapping, it is a slice of paradise. We have decided that it is our favourite place, and we have stayed at quite a few hotels on the island, this is the best quality everything. I dont think this hotel would appeal to any young party animals, although there was plenty of partying at the bars nearby at night. You can get flights to Barbados for various prices, ...

Good value hotel
Advantages: Great location opposite a lovely beach. Good service and comfort Disadvantages: Not a luxurious hotel, and not very modern
Time Out at the Gap is a nice hotel, comfortable, even if not very modern. The swimming pool is nice and clean, good size when not too busy (we went out of seson, in mid-november), it might get crowded during the season. The rooms are clean, but would need refurbishment: updating bathrooms and repainting would be good). The staff is not always very friendly, which is a shame, as locals are usually very friendly.
I would definitely recommend this ... ...good value for money. The location is great in St Lawrence Gap, the tourist area of Barbados, with bars, and pubs and lots of retaurants within a walking distance to choose from. The hotel can book excursions for you, or reserve a cab. They also give out beach towels. All rooms are air-conditionned. Ask for a room with balcony (good size) and pool or beach view.
It is by no means luxury, but it is an acceptable, quiet, 2 to 3 star hotel. ...

Silver Sands Honeymoon
Advantages: On beachfront, reasonable prices Disadvantages: More mature visitors
...eager to get to the Silver Sands resort on the southern tip of Barbados in Christchurch in order to enjoy what we hoped would be restful but fun filled 7 days. Arriving at the hotel at 11am we were initially advised that our room was not ready, however this was not at the fault of the hotel as we were very early for check-in. Realising we were on our honeymoon, the staff quickly offered us a beachfront room just on the sands edge, which was both ... ...building on the resort edge. This was well appreciated as was the complimentary bottle of wine we were given (both at no extra cost to ourselves) We had opted for a room with an ensuite kitchen, as we thought it best to experiment with the daily routines of married life. There was a grocery on the compound which made it extremely easy to get the daily basics for breakfast such as bread, eggs sauasages and beans. The room was equipped with all appliances ...

Turtle Beach wedding
Advantages: clean, close to the beach Disadvantages: value for money, service
...two children went to the Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados in October 2007 to get married.
On arrival we were greeted by a rather rude receptionist called Kacedy, She had no idea of any answers to our questions regarding our wedding and told us to ask somebody else. We were then brought up a Rum cocktail which was vile. Within the first 10 minutes of arriving i just wanted to go home.
After about an hour we were escorted to our room and our bags ... ...need so much money to shop there as all the shops were fine jewellery stores or designer clothes.
Over all i enjoyed my time here but wouldn't go back again, Turtle Beach is not really a place for children, its more for upper class couples wanting a relaxing holiday. ...
