Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Lack of choice with Entertainment & food

Wasn't over inmpressed with crystal cove I think we may have had high expectations, although this is a beautiful hotel there wasn't alot in the way of entertainment/bars or food which disapointed us slightly. The food we had was nice but there was not a lot of choice and the entertainment was none existant. Ok for people wanting to totally chill and do absolutly nothing! Although there is plenty to do off site we kept returning to place called Arbor ...
...top nite out!! The beach here is lovely and the sea is out of this world, noone could say it didn't make you want to just jump in, it is so clear and great for getting up close to those fish! Swimming pools are beautifully done but look too pretty to swim in. If you order food from room service don't guarantee that you will get what you have ordered as we found ourselves with some weird combinations. Wouldn't recommed for families or young couples! ...

Review of Crystal Cove, Appleby

I was one of the Village People!

Advantages: Family friendly, All Inclusive, Good amenities
Disadvantages: Location on island, rather expensive (but worth it)

I stayed at the Almond Beach Village (ABV) from 15 October 2007 for two weeks. I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about as I absolutely enjoyed my stay there. I have read reports that ABV is not a 4 star resort, but you have to remember that you are in a Caribbean country so you will not have the same 4 star quality there as you would in the UK. Isn't that just plain common sense? The staff were great and we made some really good friends ...
...bus to ABV's sister site, Almond Beach Spa - which is for adults only. We didn't visit Almond Beach Spa but we had feedback that it wasn't as nice as ABV. There is live entertainment most nights and would definitely recommend their Manager's cocktail night (Tuesday) and their Beach BBQ (I think Wednesday). There is also entertainment in Horizon, which is ok most nights but I can get a little cheesy as they tend to sing the same songs. Non-motorized ...

Review of Almond Beach Village, Heywoods

Sandy Lane location for less than an arm and a leg

Advantages: Location next door to the rich folks. Same scenery for less salary.
Disadvantages: Rooms in need of modernisation.

Overall good with some areas for improvement necessary. We visited in 2003. Recent guest comments (2007) reflect the same experience, so they have not moved on. The beach location is excellent, especially as it is right next door to Sandy Lane Bay, which you can walk across or swim off, disturbing the celebrities on "their" beach. It's on the west coast of Barbados which is well sheltered from the Atlantic winds. The service in the restaurant was ...

The price includes afternoon rum punch from the beach bar, but don't have too many in the heat of the day. Fabulous Hotel - Go there!

Advantages: Great Hotel - Fabulous sunsets
Disadvantages: You have to come home

We stayed at this Hotel in 2006 and have to say it's one of the best we have stayed in. As soon as you walk through the door to the reception area, your greeted with a drink of whatever you fancy, along with an ice cold towl to help cool you down. Theres no hanging around in the Hotel Lobby to check in, you asked your name, given a room key then shown to your room. The rest of the check in process then takes place in you room and you luggage quickly ...
...from the beach but on three floors. We were fortunate enough to have a ground floor room so were straight onto the beach. The rooms were well equipped, with Mini bar, Internet access, good bed and good quality furniture and well equipped bathroom. Plenty of Wardrobe Space and a good sized seating area. Sun, sea, sand and lots of rum punch

Advantages: Great value, amazing facilities
Disadvantages: Hard to leave

I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Bougainvilleas resort in Barbados. So off I went with 16 other people including my husband. The group ranged in age from 25 - 80 so werent sure quite what to expect. Well the holiday got off to a bad start as our flight was 11 hours late, but never mind that is not the hotels fault! CHECK IN: Well we did arrive at two in the morning so the poor night steward couldnt really cope - it took an hour ...
...is lovely at night and they brought us some rum punch and apple juice to drink whilst waiting. ROOM: We had a "deluxe studio" which was on the ground floor. It had a comfortable double bed, satellite TV, a sofa and table. There was a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer and hot plate so you could cook your own meals.
