Advantages: Immaculate hotel, great entertainment team, lovely location and superb food. Disadvantages: Remoteish location, lacking room facilities and the damn bingo!
We had been looking forward to our holiday to Mallorca for such a long time we thought it was never going to arrive. After a hard year full of ups and downs we were more than ready for the break and had built up the trip into something that had to be the perfect getaway. Of course, a vital part of our holiday would be how good the hotel was so it is with some trepidation that we arrived at the Barcelo Cala Vinas on June 14th 2008.
Booked through Thomas Cook the Barcelo Cala Vinas is part of a chain. The hotel is situated in the quite and serene area of Cala Vinyes, Calvia. Somewhat off the beaten track, the hotel is situated twenty minutes walk from Magalluf and is just over an hour via coach transfer from Palma airport. Overlooking a beautiful little cove, the hotel is one of few tourist properties in the area with only the Cala ...
Advantages: Fantastic hotel with something for everyone Disadvantages: Not near a sandy beach
of deserts and icecreams. There was also alot for vegerians.
You can order snacks by the pool all day and these snacks are very good, sometimes we woudl eat by the pool if we missed breakfast or lunch, my children loved the pizza and pasta.
The staff of all areas of the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
There are 3 swimming pools, a spa, a sauna, a gym, tennis courts, squash, games room and lots of room for sun bathing.
The pools are very clean, and suitable for children as well as adults, the sunbeds are put around the pools and towels are given out daily.
The views are fantastic, lovely mountains and watching the sun set is breathtaking.
The area where the hotel is situated is very quiet, if you want to look at the shops it is a 10 minute walk.
The is a bus service by the hotel that will take you to and from the beach ...
Advantages: Beaches were lovely... Disadvantages: Everything I have listed as 'bad'
Barceló Margaritas
My boyfriend & I stayed here under half board (so breakfast & dinner were included but not lunch) for a week. It was a major emotional rollercoaster, of ups, downs and mediocrity I must admit.
The first day we arrived we threw our belongings down so as to explore, and placed a do not disturb sign on the door.
When we returned we found that one of the staff had helped themselves to 40euros (20 from each of our wallets) this was infuriating since even with travel insurance the hotel and the Thomas Cook reps were extremely unhelpful & unremorseful.
The rest of the review I will put in bullet points:
..: The Good :..
O The weather is great in March
O There are two outdoor pools
O There are plenty of sun loungers
O Reception staff are well mannered
O The decor of the hotel is lovely ...
