Barcelona, who doesn't want to go there?
Advantages: Popular places to visit, affordable price, easy to getaway. Disadvantages: English ability of local people, some prices are somewhere high.
I went to Barcelona in the beginning January 2009. That was my first experience visiting 'one of the must visit' city in Spain. By the time we (me and my friends) arrived, we went by airplane and arrived in Girona Airport. I must say that English ability of Spanish people is not that good. Sorry for writing this, but I just want to share my experience. After that we went from airport to the city centre of Barcelona (where the phenomenal Las Ramblas ... ...We stayed in apartment exactly in Las Ramblas.
After getting to the city center, it was very good. We can easily find top brands, such as Pizza Marzano, Carrefour, McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks just on the side of the pavement. The 'Las Ramblas' was somehow too crowded, and it's very popular that it is not safe out there, so we should have been very careful there. And I didn't even know why, the tour leader suggested us not to buy any food in ...

Barcelona!
Advantages: Everything! Disadvantages: The expense of eating and drinking on Los Ramblas!
I was taken to Barcelona for a surprise trip last October. And what a surprise- it was an amazing city with so much to offer! We stayed in the University area of the city, about a ten minute trip into the city centre using the underground. We found there was so much to see and do it was hard to fit it in to the few days we were there. I would however recommend a few things to definitely do- take some time to wander up and down Los Ramblas, there ... ...are a feast for the eyes (and the stomach!) Take the time to sit and watch the sunset on the waterfront- it is truely beautiful. Try and find places to eat in little backstreets, full of Barcelonians they are the best! Also try Place Reail (sp!), there is a restaurant that always has a queue outside- but trust me, it's worth it! We found the underground the easiest, and cheapest way to get around. Buy a 5 day ticket and you can jump on and off as ...

Sailing in a 33 feet racing catamaran in Barcelona
Advantages: exciting, funny, ... a perfect day Disadvantages: you might get exhausted
...catamaran owned by 25knot.com
25knots is the only spanish company I've heard of that believes in racing catamarans.
Their offer is simple: go sailing for 4-5 hours in the Barcelona coast with a 33feet high performance racing catamaran. During the 4-5 hours you have the chance to learn how to sail a radical boat. They let you stear the boat, trim the main sail, the jib, the spinniker, ... basically you play all the posible roles in a racing team.
... ...12 knots with brezes of less than 7-8 knots. If you don't peak 12 knots they give you a 50% discount. Last Sunday when we went sailing with the didgeridoo, we peaked 16 knots in a day with really small winds ... I doubt that any other boat would go faster than 7 knots.
Once you have shown a minimal expertise they let you participate in a regatta with your own racing team. This is something really want to try ...

Top Attractions in Barcelona; General Tourist Information
Advantages: *Great transport *Attractions for everyone, any age, any interest *City and beach Disadvantages: *Food prices/quality in the centre *Very busy in peak seasons
...Information The city of Barcelona stands in the heart of the Catalonia region in the east of Spain. Being the 2nd largest Spanish city, it boasts both the fast-paced city atmosphere yet also an open coastline with sandy beaches. Hotels can be found all across the city to suit everyone's tastes and ideal locations - may I recommend the Hotel Balmes on Calle Mallorca as a very good value 3 star hotel in a great location for the average tourist like ... ...as a shuttle bus between Barcelona Airport and the city centre on a regular basis (I'd say at least 2 per hour). Just make sure that for the journey back you know which terminal you need, otherwise you could have a bit of a walk... Not that I'm speaking from experience at all... Language Everyone speaks Spanish as a native language, but the locals tend to converse in their regional language of Catalan - it's a little like Spanish and Portuguese ...
