Strawberries and Champagne for breakfast! Advantages: Excellent breakfast, great location, excellent value for money Disadvantages: none that we found This hotel is a great find! The location is perfect, just a 2 minute walk to a metro station and 2 minutes to the Olympic harbour. We arrived at the hotel by taxi, but apart from that we walked or used the Metro the whole weekend. The area around the hotel was really quiet over the weekend, but felt very safe - my friend and I are both young females and never had any problems walking around the area on our own. The rooms were spacious and well ... ...The breakfast was the best i have ever had in a hotel - amazing buffet, everything you could imagine - including the widest selection of lovely fruit. You can't beat strawberries and champagne for breakfast!! I think we paid about £80-90 each for the 2 nights which included breakfast - worth the money itself without the room!! We stayed there in Feb 2006 so i imagine prices have probably gone up since, but excellent value for money. Hotel Balmes - great hotel in a great spot of Barcelona! Advantages: Great location to Metro stations Modern, clean and comfortable furnishings Good staff Disadvantages:* Pool is small Expensive food and drinks in the hotel ...we walked past! A hotel in central Barcalona Advantages: location Disadvantages: nonw I stayed in this holiday inn last time i visited Barcelona , I have stayed in holiday inn's before ni this country and thought i'd give it ago in Barelona as i was on a budget . this is a 186 bedroom hotel in the heart of barcelona. The room The room it's self is pretty basic i have to say but it will do , when your in spain you don't spend much time in the room any ways as your on holiday The room was decorded nicely and it was clean , i stayed ... ...- suite bathroom Breakfast the breakfast was great a continental breakfast that is included in the price and with a good choice of food there is something for everyone how every they don';t offer lunch or dinner . Cool Hotel Advantages: Extremely Cool Disadvantages: 'Out the Way' I visted this hotel last March and i have to say, it is the best looking hotel i have ever stayed in. --Getting There-- Taxis from the airport are pretty easy to come across although not many of the drivers speak English, we are in Spain after all. If your not up to scratch with your Spanish then i always find if you print off your hotel confirmation and give this to the driver they will find the hotel easily! --The Hotel-- From the outside it ... ...the outside! Nex to the hotel is a large 'guerkin', this looks awesome in the dark, all red and blue lightss. The corridors inside have dim blue lights which make the whole place look fantastic. Your room number is highlighted in blue lights, which isnt that easy to see but adds to the atmosphere. --The Room-- The room was massive for what i was expecting. Great Location, Great Staff - Husa Meson Castilla Advantages: Great location, comfortable rooms Disadvantages: Not many facilities ...the hotel himself describes the Husa Meson Castilla as 'a simple two star hotel, but for those who are watching their budget, it is not only moderately priced, but also well located and offers an old-world ambience'. I would agree whole heartedly with this statement, but don't be put off by the lack of more stars. As you may know, stars are awarded for facilities in a hotel and not the standard of the rooms, etc. Whilst this hotel doesn't have masses ... ...prices. - -Location- - The location is perfect. Just down a well-lit and fairly buzzing side street off the Ramblas, it's a mere five minute walk to the centre of the action. The nearest underground train station is at the top of the Ramblas (probably an extra two minutes walk) and is called Catalunya.
