Hotel Arts Barcelona Advantages: Ideally located on the sea front and boasts pure oppulence Disadvantages: Most popular hotel in Barcelona and availability can be difficult to secure ...considered to be one of the best hotels - if not, the bes hotel - in Europe. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL AND BEAUTIFULL!!!!!!!!!! Advantages: clean, classy and comfortable!!! Disadvantages: NONE!!! only that you'll never want to leave ...have ever been to. This hotel is in Prime location on las ramblas which is one of the if not the most famous streets in the city. You are a minutes if not less walk from the main plaza and leading of la rambla there are a multitude of beautifull cobble stone streets just waiting to be explored. On our first night we just started walking and we found ourselves eating dinner in a little hidden church square. Every detail of the city is exquisite even ... ...the tourist routes. The Hotel 1898 is perfect as you realy are in prime location. The rooms, even the cheapest, are all emaculately clean and very tastefully decorated in a simple black or white, or some rooms are white and red i think, decor. The bathrooms are beautifull with a marble finish. The only thing i would say is that they do not supply conditioner so you have to bring your own, but they complementary slippers are nice!!!! Modern luxury dating from the 17th century Advantages: Luxurious, Clean, Trendy Disadvantages: Expensive, Not family friendly The Hotel Claris is located at walking distance away from Barcelona's main city centre and main attractions such as The Ramblas and port, making it a conveinient palce to stay. I stayed at the hotel in 2008 and fell in love with it. As one walks through the main entrance, one feels as though one is entering an ancient, traditional Spanish palace, with paladian columns and achitecture, in fact, this is exactly what the building originally was. However, ... ...architecture with the neatest modern styles. The rooms are very luxurious with all modern amenities one would expect from a five star hotel. The food is also wondeful, albeit a little expensive. Magic Majestic? Advantages: location Disadvantages: could offer more for that money ...4 nights in the five-star hotel Majestic. We booked online about 2 weeks in advance and used their 3 nights for the price of 2 offer. We checked in without any problem and were shown to our room. The room itself was fine, not too small, not too stuffy. It wasn't overlooking anything spectacular, the window faced a car park, which, I suppose, was better than being woken up by the traffic of one of the most famous and busiest streets in Barcelona. ... ...to my husband. The hotel has a sauna and a steam room. The roof pool was a bit cold to use, but we did try the sauna. It was good and affordable, just 9 Euros for both of us. The gym for hotel guests is complimentary. Check-out was also quick and cheerful. Their room rate is 199 Euros per room plus VAT plus breakfast. Was Majestic magic? Probably not… ... Hotel Lloret, Barcelona Advantages: excellent, convienient location right on la Ramblas Disadvantages: there werent any for me! Hotel Lloret is at the top end of La Ramblas - the main (very lively) street through the city, VERY near Placa Catalunya with Metro stations within easy distance & for us it was roughly a 20 minute walk to the main bus station (which is easily tube-able we just wanted to walk!). I found the hotel to be great with all that i needed - clean, friendly, secure, convenient. Its not upmarket, posh nor plush but it certainly isnt down market, shabby or ... ...for 2 people in a twin room. Breakfast was help-yourself: cornflakes, yoghurt, pastries, toast & jam etc plenty to go round with free flowing coffee & juice drinks. The room was fine, cleaned daily & sheets & towels changed. We had a TV & a balcony - no T / coffee facilities in mine but we managed! Towels provided & some shampoo & soap. shower fine, on the small size!
