Strawberries and Champagne for breakfast! Advantages: Excellent breakfast, great location, excellent value for money Disadvantages: none that we found This hotel is a great find! The location is perfect, just a 2 minute walk to a metro station and 2 minutes to the Olympic harbour. We arrived at the hotel by taxi, but apart from that we walked or used the Metro the whole weekend. The area around the hotel was really quiet over the weekend, but felt very safe - my friend and I are both young females and never had any problems walking around the area on our own. The rooms were spacious and well ... ...The breakfast was the best i have ever had in a hotel - amazing buffet, everything you could imagine - including the widest selection of lovely fruit. You can't beat strawberries and champagne for breakfast!! I think we paid about £80-90 each for the 2 nights which included breakfast - worth the money itself without the room!! We stayed there in Feb 2006 so i imagine prices have probably gone up since, but excellent value for money. Hotel Balmes - great hotel in a great spot of Barcelona! Advantages: Great location to Metro stations Modern, clean and comfortable furnishings Good staff Disadvantages:* Pool is small Expensive food and drinks in the hotel ...we walked past! Great Location, Great Staff - Husa Meson Castilla Advantages: Great location, comfortable rooms Disadvantages: Not many facilities ...the hotel himself describes the Husa Meson Castilla as 'a simple two star hotel, but for those who are watching their budget, it is not only moderately priced, but also well located and offers an old-world ambience'. I would agree whole heartedly with this statement, but don't be put off by the lack of more stars. As you may know, stars are awarded for facilities in a hotel and not the standard of the rooms, etc. Whilst this hotel doesn't have masses ... ...prices. - -Location- - The location is perfect. Just down a well-lit and fairly buzzing side street off the Ramblas, it's a mere five minute walk to the centre of the action. The nearest underground train station is at the top of the Ramblas (probably an extra two minutes walk) and is called Catalunya. Europark Hotel, Barcelona Advantages: Great Location Disadvantages: None The Location Of Europark Hotel The Europark is a three star hotel in L'Eixample district on Arago. It is in a fantastic location very close to the Passeig de Gracia and a short walk to Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic (about fifteen minutes walk). The metro and trains get you anywhere you want to go in Barcelona and its only a five minute walk to the nearest station. The metro and trains are reasonably priced. Metro is 1 euro per ride.
