Location, location, location Advantages: Location, value for money, free internet laptop usage Disadvantages: Not many hangers Spent three nights here with five girlfriends for a 'big' birthday and could not have been happier with the location, rooms, reception, cleanliness and atmosphere. The hotel is in an old building and has an impressive huge carved wooden door but inside all is modern and minimalist. The garden area behind reception is pretty but there are lots of steps to reach all the levels. We didn't try the bar as there are loads of bars and cafes nearby. Helpful ... ...'room only' as it is far cheaper to get a breakfast of anywhere choice in the city (Cafe de L'Opera round the corner is divine). Each of the three rooms we had was spacious and spotless, with big bathrooms and walk-in showers. Ours had a small balcony and all windows had blackout curtains as well as voiles. Like most hotels, it didn't have many hangers but that would be my only gripe. The Princesa Sofia Advantages: Very close to the metro station Disadvantages: the bar is expensive ...night for free. The hotel is very close to the Maria Cristina metro station from where you can take the underground to see all the sights of Barcelona. A T10 ticket is the best value allowing 10 journeys for the price of only 6. The hotel itself was very clean and the facilities were execellent. It has a swimming pool, gym, spa and loads of salons. A word of warning though, if you book over the internet and get a cheap deal, it is unlikely that ... ...a bottle of beer. This can be purchased just across the street for 2.25 euro. I must however the hotel is brilliant and the service is first class. Like sleeping in a 1990s IKEA showroom Advantages: It's OK - honest - just nothing very special Disadvantages: It's not worth the money ...got a booking at the Hilton Barcelona and were able to breathe again. First I think it's only fair to the hotel to say that one's experience of a hotel can be very different depending on the circumstances. Had I been there for a holiday, I might have rated it more highly than I did as a meeting venue - but even so, I really can't imagine I'd have ever chosen this hotel for a holiday. Location The first thing that's important to know when ... ...As the other is called Hilton Diagonal Mar, just nodding when you recognise the word 'Diagonal' is not going to help you! You will need to be explicit. The drive from the airport is about 30 minutes, depending on the traffic. The Hilton stands right on the Diagonal so the taxi will pull off the street onto the forecourt in front of the hotel. It's a tall, concrete and glass building - not particularly memorable, but nothing ugly. Right in the heart of Barcelona Advantages: great location, swimming pool, friendly staff, clean, tidy and attractive Disadvantages: no kettle! pool closed not in summer, expensive resturant ...nights in the 4 star Sunotel Central hotel in Barcelona in March 2008 with my partner and almost one year old. LOCATION Sunotel Central is situated in Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes which is one of Barcelona's major avenues. It is a great location which is right in the heart of Barcelona and a 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas, which is the main strip in Barcelona. It is also a 15-20 minute walk to Port Vale beach and harbour, and a 2 minute walk ... ...bug on the last day), infact we are hoping to revisit this year to see a couple more things we didn't fit in last time. And will I go back to Sunotel Central? Comfortable hotel - but not a great 5 star Advantages: Central location. Quiet and comfortable Disadvantages: Current refurbishment. Limited facilities ...flights and 4 nights at Le Meridien. The hotel was rated as 5 stars and had a great position on Las Ramblas. Price for the hotel was approximately £150 per night for a deluxe double including breakfast. On arrival, it was disappointing to find that the main reception area and lounge was being refurbished, so we were directed to a temporary reception which was very busy, and full of cases as people departed for cruise ships etc. Our room was not ready, ... ...a room on the 3rd floor. Initial impressions were good, as it was newly refurbished in a smart, minimalist style, and the bathroom was large, with a huge walk-in shower. Unfortunately, there was no bath, so check on this if this is important for you. The view was also disappointing - the back wall of some offices and appartments. Due to the refurbishment, public areas were very limited.
