Strawberries and Champagne for breakfast! Advantages: Excellent breakfast, great location, excellent value for money Disadvantages: none that we found This hotel is a great find! The location is perfect, just a 2 minute walk to a metro station and 2 minutes to the Olympic harbour. We arrived at the hotel by taxi, but apart from that we walked or used the Metro the whole weekend. The area around the hotel was really quiet over the weekend, but felt very safe - my friend and I are both young females and never had any problems walking around the area on our own. The rooms were spacious and well ... ...The breakfast was the best i have ever had in a hotel - amazing buffet, everything you could imagine - including the widest selection of lovely fruit. You can't beat strawberries and champagne for breakfast!! I think we paid about £80-90 each for the 2 nights which included breakfast - worth the money itself without the room!! We stayed there in Feb 2006 so i imagine prices have probably gone up since, but excellent value for money. Hotel Balmes - great hotel in a great spot of Barcelona! Advantages: Great location to Metro stations Modern, clean and comfortable furnishings Good staff Disadvantages:* Pool is small Expensive food and drinks in the hotel ...we walked past! A great 7 nights Advantages: Great Location, Super Friendly Staff, Really Clean, Value for Money Disadvantages: None really! ...I was pleased that the Hotel Auto Hogar (my place of residence for 7 days and nights) seemed to be of a pleasing nature. And that was confirmed when I arrived. Obviously you look forward to your holiday and I was certainly doing that in the weeks leading up to my departure. I arrived in sunny Spain, made my way using train and metro to the hotel and was greeted by a lovely receptionist named Raquel. She was very welcoming and continued to be throughout ... ...it is good that the hotel have glass that keeps the sound out, except for the odd siren ringing from one of the emergency services. I was lucky to have a room with a balcony, overlooking the main road (I love people watching!) as some of the other rooms room out on to a disused courtyard in the back rooms of the hotel. The balconies have the sun for most of the day (until around 5pm) and are really good for sunbathing. A great Stay in Barcelona Advantages: Great Value for money , great view, Disadvantages: location is a bit out of the way Hotel Amrey Diagonal was great find. I booked via Otel.com and was charged 44pounds for a double room for one night. Including breakfast. I was expecting a run down hotel in the middle of nowhere but what i got was amazing. The nearest metro stop is Glories. And outside the metro is the tram system. Get on the tram and stop at station at Pret IV. The stop is virtually outside the hotel doorstep. The breakfast was simply amazing. The food was actually ... ...area. Amrey Diagonal is worth the money and a great stay. I actually have pictures of the hotel, the interior and the exterior. Europark Hotel, Barcelona Advantages: Great Location Disadvantages: None The Location Of Europark Hotel The Europark is a three star hotel in L'Eixample district on Arago. It is in a fantastic location very close to the Passeig de Gracia and a short walk to Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic (about fifteen minutes walk). The metro and trains get you anywhere you want to go in Barcelona and its only a five minute walk to the nearest station. The metro and trains are reasonably priced. Metro is 1 euro per ride.
