Being a coastal city the climate is not too oppressive for our sensitive natures and there is a little bit of everything available to keep just about any kind of visitor entertained. There are bars, restaurants and night life if that’s ... ...and really immerse yourself. With Barcelona the quick tripper has to make a lot of decisions about what to see and what to leave out which is why you can find yourself heading home with as many regrets as happy memories.
This isn’t intended to be a comprehensive guide to Barcelona; you really would need a book to do that. What I will do is talk about some of the places I visited, some of things I saw and some, hopefully, useful tips for anyone thinking ...

Barcelona lies on the North Eastern peninsula of Spain, the shores of the Mediterrean. It is the second largest City in Spain with a population of 3 million and is a commercial and Industrial centre. As well as being an important port it is the capital of Catalunya, a mountainous area of Northern Spain. The Catalunyans are highly proud of their steeped history and the Catalunyan language is as widely spoken as Spanish in Barcelona as well as all ... ...are in Wales. Barcelona has a cosmopolitan and cultured feel to it, a bit like Paris which makes it an ideal location for a romantic weekend getaway. Advantages: Plenty to see and do, friendly people, great food Disadvantages: Plenty of Tourist traps, pickpockets
...travelled around Spain starting at Barcelona for three days, Zaragoza for an evening, three days in San Sebastian and ending in LaGuardia for a long weekend. As it was quite a long trip with a lot of detail I will review each part of my trip in a different review, otherwise you might find it too long; also a lot of it might not relate to yourselves and the trip you are doing or planning to do. *********************************************************************

Around Barcelona, it is not neccessary to hire a car as there is plenty of transport options. We travelled mostly by taxi as they are very reasonably priced, as well as the tourist buses which get you all over(more on them later).

Advantages: Great compact city with excellent public transport Disadvantages: No one truly stand out monument that is world famous.
...only time I had visited Barcelona before was on a day trip in the middle of August while holidaying in Salou it was so oppressively hot that I did not enjoy the experience so a visit in April for a few days seemed a more sensible option for a short city break and despite the weather being cloudy and wet it was still a far more enjoyable visit a very attractive city which has a lot to offer most visitors. It is important to time your visit to avoid ... ...I was impressed about with Barcelona was the great variety available; you have a pretty sandy two mile stretch of beach if the weather is hot enough, some great parks, lots of great shopping to spend your money on, some interesting museums and great architecture as well as plenty of things to keep the kids occupied. ...My opinion of Barcelona in general
As this was my first holiday, I have nothing really to compare it to, but I cannot imagine any other destination even coming close to the standard set by this magnificent city. The atmosphere, set by an interesting mix of vibrant culture, living history, and the hustle and bustle of the city, is truly amazing.
