He's from Barcelona

Advantages: Everything you want on a city break
Disadvantages: Too many things to do

.../> ^^^^^^^^^

Barcelona is one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe, and for several very good reasons. It is only a short flight from the UK and with budget airlines can be very cheap to reach. Being a coastal city the climate is not too oppressive for our sensitive natures and there is a little bit of everything available to keep just about any kind of visitor entertained. There are bars, restaurants and night life ...
...and really immerse yourself. With Barcelona the quick tripper has to make a lot of decisions about what to see and what to leave out which is why you can find yourself heading home with as many regrets as happy memories.

This isn’t intended to be a comprehensive guide to Barcelona; you really would need a book to do that. What I will do is talk about some of the places I visited, some of things I saw and some, hopefully, useful tips ... more

Advantages: Cheap, Atmospheric, Lively
Disadvantages: Nothing worth mentioning

Barcelona lies on the North Eastern peninsula of Spain, the shores of the Mediterrean. It is the second largest City in Spain with a population of 3 million and is a commercial and Industrial centre. As well as being an important port it is the capital of Catalunya, a mountainous area of Northern Spain. The Catalunyans are highly proud of their steeped history and the Catalunyan language is as widely spoken as Spanish in Barcelona as well as all ...

Too much to do and not enough time!!

Advantages: Plenty to see and do, friendly people, great food
Disadvantages: Plenty of Tourist traps, pickpockets

...travelled around Spain starting at Barcelona for three days, Zaragoza for an evening, three days in San Sebastian and ending in LaGuardia for a long weekend. As it was quite a long trip with a lot of detail I will review each part of my trip in a different review, otherwise you might find it too long; also a lot of it might not relate to yourselves and the trip you are doing or planning to do. ********************************************************************* ...

We travelled mostly by taxi as they are very reasonably priced, as well as the tourist buses which get you all over(more on them later). Advantages: Great compact city with excellent public transport
Disadvantages: No one truly stand out monument that is world famous.

...only time I had visited Barcelona before was on a day trip in the middle of August while holidaying in Salou it was so oppressively hot that I did not enjoy the experience so a visit in April for a few days seemed a more sensible option for a short city break and despite the weather being cloudy and wet it was still a far more enjoyable visit a very attractive city which has a lot to offer most visitors. It is important to time your visit to avoid ...
...I was impressed about with Barcelona was the great variety available; you have a pretty sandy two mile stretch of beach if the weather is hot enough, some great parks, lots of great shopping to spend your money on, some interesting museums and great architecture as well as plenty of things to keep the kids occupied. There are lots of restaurants and places to stay to suit most budgets and the city is supported by a great transportation system and ...

...up booking a trip to Barcelona via our tour operator - I know, I know, these are expensive and you pay over the odds, but I thought that at least this way, we won't get lost and also have a tour guide on the coach. I just wanted a hassle-free day without the stress of catching trains or local transport! We were taken to Port Vell, which is the old port, not far from The Ramblas. Our guide on the coach journey was very informative and gave us a lot ...
...reasons I wished to visit Barcelona - to witness the Magic Fountain Show. I had heard so much about it and had seen them on TV during the 1992 Olympics. We boarded our coach and set off on the short ride to the National Palace where the fountains are situated. On driving up the hill towards the palace we passed the Olympic outdoor swimming pool, with its outdoor seating which would provide fantastic views out over the city. On arriving at the Palace, ...

A city of dreams

Advantages: Beautiful city, loads to do
Disadvantages: None

...My opinion of Barcelona in general As this was my first holiday, I have nothing really to compare it to, but I cannot imagine any other destination even coming close to the standard set by this magnificent city. The atmosphere, set by an interesting mix of vibrant culture, living history, and the hustle and bustle of the city, is truly amazing. There’s definitely a lot more to Barcelona than sun, sea and sand. There’s so much to do ...

Pension Miami Hotel, Barcelona, Spain.

Advantages: Close to centre, clean room, great staff, near great shops, cheap and clean!
Disadvantages: no view, alley way smells, people pee in alley way, noisy.

and everyday advice (they also have great maps there!) The room was basic but nice and cool with aircon. It was big enough for 2 people. There is a TV but we didn't wish to use it (why watch telly when you are in Barcelona?!?!?!). There is a radio controlled by the light switches! The bath was in the living area with a huge shower curtain so the floor did not get wet. The bath is big enough for 2 ;-). The bathroom had a nice clean toilet, and bidet and the sink was in the main room and is huge! Everything in the room was cleaned everyday. The toilet paper and towels were always stocked up. There is a wardbrobe which is big enouhg for 2 people, but there are minimal hangers. We took some and left them there! Also there are only 2 pillows on the bed so ask for more and you will get! The bed was so comfy it was unreal! I like hard beds (bad ...

Michael reigns in Spain

Advantages: Very exciting race, differing from it's dowdy image
Disadvantages: Buttons misfortune, the boredom of seeing Schumacher win - again

. With fine weather from the Mediterranean as well as the popular Barcelona nearby, it is no surprise then that many of the teams test at the track every other week and throughout the winter. This means that many of them could drive the race with their eyes closed. This is usually why the races are usually insomnia curing. The perfect set-up and in-depth knowledge of the circuit enables the drivers to hit maximum and stay there. However, despite this there have been calls by F1 fans to have the Spanish GP cut from the calendar. The processional races have meant that Spain has been shortlisted to be one of the circuits to be scrapped from the calendar to make way for other venues. In my opinion, I think another track would add more spice and less boredom of that induced by the Spanish GP. THE TRACK Incredibly similar to ...
