Barcelona is a fantastic place - I went there last year with Chelsea's football team, and OK, we got wasted 5-1, but I still loved the place. Even then, last year, the weather was sunny and warm, and the people were very friendly. There are a number of sights in Barcelona, such as the massive Gothic cathedral, the Place de Catalunya in the centre, and the harbour. The number 1 tourist attraction however, is amazingly enough the Nou Camp and its museum, home of F.C Barcelona. Also it is the second biggest tourist attraction in Spain. It holds about 100'000 people, making it one of the biggest stadiums in Europe.
F.C Barcelona is not just a football team, it is a sports team, with basketball, hockey and many other sports, as well as arguably the most famous football team in the world. It is also a huge business, with F.C Barcelona merchandise sold all the way around the world.
Liverpool travel to Barcelona on Thursday for the most difficult game they will play this season. As well as Chelsea, Leeds and Manchester Utd have both lost 4-0 here in recent years. The team is probably not as good as it was last year, and failed disappointingly in this years Champions League. Luis Figo, one of my 3 best players in the world, ledt last year for a world record £42million, but Barcelona can still boast one of the other 2, and in my opinion the best, Rivaldo.
If there is one player who is sure to affect this game, it is the Brazilian, whose performances in an overall disappointing side this year have been incredible, including a hatrick in Milan, and completely running the game against Leeds at Elland Road this year. He was also top scorer in La Liga last year, quite good for a midfielder.
However, Barcelona are not at their best. They have some brilliant players, including Luis Enrique, Gerard, Kluivert and Sergi, but they have been much to inconsistent this season.
Personally, I think the defensive game Liverpool succeeded with in Rome and Porto will not work in the Nou Camp, and they may well struggle to cope with Barcelona's attack at Anfield as well. On their day, Barcelona will beat anyone, and this may be their last chance of trophys this year.

As you have put this into the Travel category, I had hoped to read a little more about Barcelona, not almost only about football. Barcelona is indeed a wonderful place to spend a few days as a tourist. Take care, Michael.

Just recall the 3-1 beauty we pulled off at the Bridge and edit the Barcelona game from your memory. Incidentally, it's also a gorgeous city... did you get any time to see it?

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
