I went to Barcelona a few months ago with my cousins, it wasn't exactly the greatest time of my life. It cost around £200 in all and we got to stay in a hotel near the beach but it was pretty deserted, I don't know if this is because we went during easter or anything. It was quite easy finding english speaking people and the seafood was fantastic but the bars and clubs have a lot to be desired. The taxi service will rip you off if you're not watching and people are overly friendly which was quite strange when we got there. The underground system is also particularly hard to figure out. The shops open at around 11 which is quite inconvinient as there's nothing much to do. There also have fiesta (I don't remember what they cal it) time where they take time off working to do god knows what, and they close really early. The stuff is cheap though, and you can walk around in a bikini like a true tourist without being judged. They have really cool markets. There's not a lot of culture either.
Oh my cousin also got her purse stolen but we were warned. The police isn't much help, they go around hooting at random girls and they couldn't speak english.
I think you must have had a terrible time in Barcelona!!! You say the night life's not good- where were you??? And you think there's not much culture- you didn't notice anything to do with the spanish inquisition, any of gaudi's art, not to mention the picasso and dali galleries!!!
I'm not even sure you went to Barcelona..........
