Advantages: So much to see Disadvantages: Finding somewhere to stay
...the long stairway of Palau Nacional.
Away from the seafront, there is a modern street market (La Rambla) with market stalls selling local handicrafts, fresh flowers, and live exotic pets. Barcelona has a long and rich history; you'll be amazed by the mystical Gothic Quarter (BarriGotic) nearby. It is a district of medieval buildings and churches with narrow alleyways. The main attraction here is the Cathedral of Barcelona (La Catedrel). If you have time, come back to see the Cathedral at night as well when it is illuminated by yellow floodlights.
Barcelona isn't Barcelona without the Sagrada Familia (La Segrada Familia). The church was designed to have a central spire and twelve towers to represent Jesus Christ and twelve Apostles but so far, it has only eight towers. And they have been building it since 1882! Anyway, the church is just...

Advantages: Great compact city with excellent public transport Disadvantages: No one truly stand out monument that is world famous.
...A which is a large terminal but it was surprisingly quiet when we arrived at just after 22.00. The airport is located about 12km from the centre and a thirty minute taxi ride to the BarriGotic in the centre was about 25 euro which is not bad. There is also the option of a train of coach from the airport but for three of us we would have only saved about ten euro by the time we had also picked up the metro from the drop off points so at that time of night a door to door service was the preferred option. As with all airports it is best to avoid the people touting for business in the arrivals lounge and head straight for the official taxi rank.
Geography of Barcelona

...building that dominates the skyline for miles around. The old building has been sensitively and creatively modernised internally providing a huge, airy space and a very relaxing environment. Much of the art on display is religious and taken from numerous old churches in the region but there are also several rooms displaying work from the 19th and 20th centuries including some early Picasso.
Barri Gottic~
Like many cities modern Barcelona was formed by the merging of several historically distinct districts. For the tourist two of these will form the basis of any visit. To the north of Gran Via De Les Corts Catalanes is Eixample, home of the Sagrada Familia amongst other sites and to the south the BarriGotic. BarriGotic is the old town of Barcelona and is a characterful area full of narrow cobbled streets, alleyways and hidden squares. Although...

Who would have thought that a comedy sketch which lampooned hammy TV classics such as 'Crossroads' could make it as a West End show? Certainly not me, but this DVD changed my mind.
A little bit of the history: Acorn Antiques started out as a... more
When I saw a parody of the oh-so-popular Harry Potter books on the shelf at work (in the library) I just HAD to take a look! I am a big fan of Spike Milligan’s …”According to” books (Black Beauty, Robin Hood, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, etc) and had a... more
If I had the money, I'd be a make-up snob and only buy expensive brands. Sadly, I don't have the money so I'm always on the lookout for cheaper alternatives. I'd been lusting over MAC's 'pigments', after seeing the amazing looks people had created using more
Barry M is my absolute favourite cosmetic brand. It hails itself as "the most colourful name in cosmetics" a claim which it's range certainly backs up. The whole range is so fun and allows you to create so many different looks. There are other ranges out more
