WHERE IS THIS PLACE?
Camari Gardens hotel apartments are situated in Gerani, near Rethymnon in Crete.
This is a smallish family run resort with just 65 apartments and studios with 2 pools, a small playground, restaurant, reception/meeting area with book exchange library and a few electronic games and computers, a laundry, a small supermarket set in pleasant gardens overlooking the sea.

We booked this 2 week holiday through Thomas Cook holidays but prior to booking I read a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor. There were no really unfavourable comments about this resort and the vast majority were really positive so I chose this place on that basis. The apartments are in the newly developed area of Hatton Gardens, just down the road from the "Banana Lamb" sculpture, and newly built student accomodations. The building was a post office sorting building, architecure is quite modern. The entrance hall is a vast triangular pond, perhaps nice to share a drink over, except you are encouraged to keep the noise down and the whole place echos and amplifies a single breath. The apartments, I have stayed in 3 different ones are mixed with fully residential units.
The apartments are all different, but share the same basic concept, TV DVD Stereo, 2 sofas, dining table plus kitchen bedrooms and bathrooms. Most have a balcony and quite good views of the city. The Olivaer Apart Hotel is very reasonably priced and there are some excellent off-peak offers available.
It is located just off Olivaer Platz, literally across the road from a bus stop that takes you up the Kurfurstendamm (or you can walk up) and about 5 minutes from the U-bahn at Adenaur. If you are happy getting round the city on public transport this is an excellent hotel. There are a few cafes, bars and restaurants close though not a huge selection (there is no dedicated night life area in West Berlin, you will need to try different areas each night). There is also a supermarket two doors away for water and other snacks.
The rooms are quite large but had a small bathroom and are simply furnished with beds, desk, table, chairs and a wardrobe. There is also a satellite TV and mini bar and hairdryers etc can be borrowed ...
