Advantages: Great view of the city Disadvantages: Only get a good view on a clear day
The basillica is located at the top of the hill overlooking Lyon. The building itself is attractive and worth a walk around but the real attraction is the view that is offered. On a clear day it really is lovely and you can see for miles, even getting a glimpse of the mountains in the distance. The bad thing is that on a misty day you can't even see down into the city so the trip isn't really worth it. It doesn't cost you anything to go in, just ... ...the walk would be quite long and steep.

To get to the top you can either walk or take the funiculaire which is part of the transport network of Lyon so if you already have a day ticket then you can just use that. Otherwise tickets are about 1 euro and you can use that as many times as you like in an hour.
