i do not recommend anyone to go here. yes the place houses a monument which is important for the history of french nationalism, but it is in a horribel part of town. the monument comes at the end of the boulevard saint-denis which to the rest of us is where by day all the trendy clothes shops are and by night ll the prodtitutes hang otu. it is an interesting area, and perhpas one that deserves to be seen to give a balanced view of paris, but it is less than pleasant. furhtermore the monument itself is plagued by mangy pigeons. there are so many other things in paris which are deserving of your attention - you can safely leave this one be.

Admittedly I am a biased history student but I found this place absolutely magical. The first 20 mins of my video from a 3 week tour of Europe, are taken up by the tombs of St. Denis. I was very disappointed to discover that the tombs no longer held the bodies of those they represented as they were thrown out during the Revolution.
The place is a little out of the way, but it really is worth the extra time spent getting there. It is not in the nicest ... ...see the area, you go to see this ancient monument and all it houses. As Westminster Abbey is my favourite place in the world (no not joking!) I was interested to see what the French royal mausoleum would be like and I was not disappointed. There are far more royal tombs here than in Westminster Abbey. The number is incredible. There is the added bonus that you can film and take photos inside the church which would not be allowed in this country. ...

I have used Campanile hotels several times and this was the third time to this hotel but this will be the last. The carpet was filthy in the corridor- there were stains all over. There were bits dropping off the ceiling and in the room the carpet was actually wet and mouldy. It stank of smoke. One of the bedside tables was missing. I would have gone elsewhere but by the time we arrived it was too late to start looking.
The room looked out onto a main street which was quite noisy so the window had to stay shut.
Very disappointing as the location is ideal for visiting Paris- just off the main motorway in from the North and also right opposite the Metro station. Supermarket across road as well. ...
