i do not recommend anyone to go here. yes the place houses a monument which is important for the history of french nationalism, but it is in a horribel part of town. the monument comes at the end of the boulevard saint-denis which to the rest of us is where by day all the trendy clothes shops are and by night ll the prodtitutes hang otu. it is an interesting area, and perhpas one that deserves to be seen to give a balanced view of paris, but it is less than pleasant. furhtermore the monument itself is plagued by mangy pigeons. there are so many other things in paris which are deserving of your attention - you can safely leave this one be.
