...Any visitor to the beautiful city of Paris will find the easiest way to get around is the underground train system. Tickets are cheap, especially if bought as a "carnet". The system is so easy to understand and it is very difficult to get lost. Some of the stations are beautiful - Louvre is a work of art in itself. Another must see station is Bastille.
I found the Metro much cleaner than it's counterpart in London and there was a significant absence of beggers. It is an education as well to see Parisians going about their business, the Parisian women all look as though they have just stepped out of the beauty salon....

Ok, so you have arrived in a central station in Paris. Where do you stay? If you are looking for a nice hotel, 3 stars are usually of a good value and quality - nicer than the equivolant in Great Britain in my experience. Place de Clichy, Mercadet Poissoniers and Les Halles - I wouldn't recommend booking a hotel in these areas. They are quite seedy districts and often attract tourists on the internet due to cheaper prices and promises of being at the heart of Paris. Nicer areas that I would suggest would be the areas, Bastille, Bourse and Opera. Bourse and Opera are for the discerning traveller who wants to splash out a little. There are some lovely hotels there and the shopping opportunities...
