On a long weekend break to Paris I logged on to the Internet to book a boat trip up the river. The description of the Bateaux Parisien evening cruise with meal sounded perfect and I lost no time in placing a booking with the operator. My tickets were despatched by e-mail almost instantly.
Bateaux Parisien leave from Quay 10 on the South Bank of the Seine immediately below the Eiffel Tower. A splendid start for a slendid evening. The staff at check in were courteous and helped develop the ambience that permeated the whole evening.
The cruise itself went from the Eiffel Tower to the Bibliotheque and then back beyond the Eiffel Tower to the scale model of the Statue of Liberty. The sights of Paris were therefore all included. Louvre, Notre Dame, bridges and many more were beautifully lit. The boat had almost no noise from the engine and travelled smoothly down the river.
The cabaret was in took the form of a string quartet and a delightful chanteuse singing a selection of romantic French ballads. I challenge anyone not to feel the romance of the occasion.
The food was stunning and served perfectly. Wine was included in the price of the meal at a rate of four bottles per table of six. As not all people on our table were drinking this was ample.
At a cost of 50UKP per person this was by far the best value of any entertainment I have ever received in Paris. The food, sights, ambience and entertainment was perfect for a romantic evening and I whole heartedly recommend this to any city break visitor. If your relationship is in its infancy this is a sure fire way to make flames of love burn hotter and if the fire is dying in a longer relationship, the most pitiful of embers will burn brightly on this evening cruise.
