Advantages: beautiful countryside Disadvantages: pay £2 for 3 hours car parking (up to 10pm)

Every year Matlock Bath holds illuminations from August Bank Holiday through to end of October (weekends only) beside the river, with illuminated rafts and the other attractions stay open later – we visited the Hologram gallery/Aquarium at 8pm at the end of October 2001!. There are also stalls and a fun fair. It is free to enter the grounds of the park, but donations are welcomed (usually for a local charity). Parking in Matlock Bath is up to 10pm and costs £1.20 for 2hours. There are cheaper rates for less time – but you will need at least 2 hours, maybe longer if you visit the other attractions. Parking is at a premium so go early. The illuminations are switched on at dusk, usually. One of the best places to view the illuminated rafts are the 2 bridges, leading into the park. The illuminations are definitely better than...

.... There you may see the S.S Great Britain and new to Bristol is a centre where you can explore Dinosaurs and the Stone Age. It really makes a brilliant day out. You may also like to visit the docks, as this is a very lively and entertaining point. I like Bristol, and used to live there although crime is the highest ever and some areas are far from being “nice”. The shops are good though and there is a wide variety to choose from. Bristol is home many large department stores and I recommend you find T.K.Maxx; a shop with brilliant names at discount prices.
For eating out in Bath, try and find “Café Plazza” in the Podium or the Moon And Sixpence (Broad street). There are many oriental restaurants and take away and many friendly pubs that serve food. I would stay away from Turkish restaurants though as they all tend...

Advantages: Excellent staff and talk Disadvantages: Can only entertain for hour or 2.
...The Jane Austen Centre is easy to find, signposted throughout Central Bath and a 15 minute walk approx. from the train station.
The price was £6 for adults, with reductions for Students, children etc.
When you purchase your tickets, you are advised to begin your visit by listening to one of the short introductory talks. These take place 3 times per hour so you won't have long to wait. The talk lasts about 10-15 minutes. The speaker we saw was excellent - very knowledgable, enthusiastic and interesting - although some in the audience found it difficult to keep up if English was not their first language. During the talk we also had the opportunity to look at relevant pictures and documents. The talk gave details of Austen's life(particularly time in Bath), family and literary career and provided interesting detail and insight...

If you’ve never been to Bath, in the South West of England, then you should most definitely go. And you should go tomorrow! This beautiful, ancient Roman city has been very sensitively planned and developed and even the more modern buildings seem to... more
Introduction
I love a good bath. Perhaps this is because for a good amount of time when I was growing up, we did not have a shower. The bath was the only way of getting clean. Therefore, I always like a nice scent in the air as I sink beneath the... more
