I've long ago decided that Bath is my favorite city in the UK.
I first went on a visit to Bath University for an open day and interview. The scenery was as gentle as the people's accents, and the Bath Abbey was beautiful. Obviously a tourist spot, the locals were also very friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed The Crescent. The Roman Baths were informative, if a bit expensive.
The land was quite hilly but it was sunny while I was there, which probably added to my positive impression!
Since that first visit, I've been back a few times, and look forward to more visits in the future!
A friend of mine who lives just outside Bristol has a slightly more negative view, saying it's full of snobs and poncey people, and the place is very arrogant.
